Accountability... what did you eat Saturday
Textured Soy Protein or Textured Vegetable Protein are usually at a health food store but I did find Textured Soy Protein over at the local Mexican market (Vallarta Market) last weekend. The chunks are much bigger than the package over at our local Whole Wheatery. The health food store has it in bins where I can buy it in bulk. I just haven't been over there lately.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I want to go see Horton but with my kids being much older (and therefore not likely to go to that sort of movie with me)...I'll have to go by myself. Dont' think even hubby would accompany me..Popcorn sounds so good. I have some microwave version of that in the cupboard...Maybe tonight.
Yesterday:
Breakfast: 1/4 Hot cereal, 1/4 cup TVP, 1.25 cup soy milk, 2 cups coffee.
Snack: 1 oz Cheese stick, 1 medium orange
Lunch: grilled chicken salad from Chili's. little bits of crunchy stuff in there. Not sure what to make of it. Looked like flour tortilla strips.Good though. I didn't eat much of the lettuce but all the chicken and alot of the cheese.
Snack: 1 oz beef jerky, 1 protein bar(19 gr)
Dinner: Beef patty, grilled and 1 oz cheddar cheese on top. a bit of caesar dressing for taste.

Is it possible to get too much protein? Maybe I did that.

I didn't do any calorie counts yesterday (well, not many) since I was eating out. Here's what I had, though.
B - 1 serving Kay's Natural protein cereal (tasted yucky) and 1/2 c. Cheerios (made the KN cereal taste a lot better) with half & half (KN cereal had 9 g. protein)
S - 1/2 c. ricotta fluff
L - turkey & swiss sandwich with avocado & lite mayo from Starbuck's (I took off half the bread & most of the tomato - it was HUGE!) 26 g. protein and my Venti Breve Caffe Mocha (16 g. protein)
S - Kay's naturals Wasabi Pretzel sticks (ok, won't order again) 10 g. protein
S - 1/2 c. ricotta fluff (this stuff is seriously yummy!)
D - I went out to an awesome local bistro and had: 1 glass Merlot, Lamb Chops (3) served with Broccoli rabe sauteed in olive oil garlic & mashed potatoes, all swimming in a lake of buttery sauce. I had all 3 lamb chops (succulent, juicy, YUM!), most of the broccoli rabe (3/4 c., probably) and about 4 bites of the taters. I had dessert, too - 2/3 of a slice of flourless chocolate torte which gave me a moaning, toe-curling mouthgasm. Oh. My. God...
Whew. Just had an aftershock from dinner last night... I brought home the rest of my dessert for DH (he was in Baltimore at a gun show). He felt the same way.
God only knows what the calories were...
I read your meals and this one in particular sounds so delicious and is so much like an average day of eating for me before surgery, Minus the breakfast! (never used to eat breakfast) You make my mouth water! LOL ...You make me feel naughty just reading what you eat! ;)
I cannot believe the amount of calories you consume on meals that just do not seem that they would add up as high. I used to think I didn't really eat all that much...but I certainly did eat rich foods like you do! I love lamb too! And I Luuuuuv broccoli rabi...Haven't made any of either in a long time! Now I'll be thinking about it for weeks before I finally go buy some! LOL I will have your cake and eat it too! hehehehe...just a taste though!
And now I have to ask you...WHAT is ricotta fluff and do you have a recipe? I LOVE ricotta and will sometimes (not recently) just eat a tablespoonfull right out of the container! So give it up! I must try this! LOL
Hugs
Anita
It's the Starbuck's Breve Mochas that jack up my calories so high. If I gave up my 2-mocha-a-day habit, I'd be about 1400 calories under my daily total...
Ricotta fluff is AWESOME! Here's my favorite variation so far:
1 lg tub ricotta cheese (I use whole milk, but you can use the part skim)
2 tubs sugar-free cool whip
1 box sugar free jello pudding (my favorite is the banana cream!)
Mix it all together and eat it like pudding! You can pour this into a graham cracker crust for your family, too. They don't have to know it's sugar free and full of calcium & protein! And, a bonus, most sugar-free foods are really hard on my digestive system (hello sugar alcohols!) where this is not. I have this on hand all the time now so when the snack monster hits, I grab it.
Valgroce on the DS board has the original ricotta fluff recipe on her profile, as well as some other great protein-filled recipes (egg custard, trail mix) for post-ops. I just changed it up a little.
I hope you like this - it's so tasty!
OOOH!!!! Thank you sweetie! I can't wait to try this...I have most of the ingredients too! ( I use regular ricotta...hate that fat free or 1% stuff) I'll cut back somewhere else If I have to...Just not on my cheese, PLEASE!
I might be making this for dinner dessert (If I don't get too lazy today) Me and whipped cream don't get along very well, but I mix it in yogurt for a fluffy protein topping for strawberries and cream or peaches and cream or any other dessert where cream is nice... So I'm sure I can handle it in ricotta!
Thanks again!
