Hello there, I am in the process in doing IVF, the doctor wants me to go on a pre-natal vitamin - this is the one.  I am concerned that due to my gastric by-pass my body will not get the correct amount from this vitamin.  Anyone else take this vitamin??  What is your opinion?  I thought we could not take iron with calcium which this vitamin has!  Help Laura

Why don't you take that vitmamin supplent fact sheet and show your RNY doctor?  Or have them atlk to one another?

Hi Laura, I had a baby 3 years after my RNY.  I just took your everyday over the counter pre-natal.  In addition, I have always taken extra calcium and iron.  I honestly don't know what vitamin levels were in my prenatal, but I am still taking them because my PCP says that they are a good vitamin to take even when you aren't expecting. I would take the other suggestion as well, have your surgeon look at the suggested vitamin and see what he suggests.

Good question...I agree & would run it past your docs just in case. I take over the counter..."Nature Made" Multi Prenatal High Folic Acid, Iron & Zinc. It's a complete multi vitamin/mineral supplement & for lactating women. Since I had not been taking my viatmins my doc had me take x-tra... Womans One A Day, calcium citrate, ferrous fumerate, B-12 & super B-complex and daily whey protein shake when I was pregnant. Just to let ya compare. Take care
