Self pay plastics cost $$$$$

Just wandering if anyone had plastics ( tummy, arms, legs, ect....  I'm a male so I don't need to worry about "GIRLS") done recently and had to self pay ?? Curious of the costs, pain associated with it, how much cutting/ and visable scars. How long did it take to heal. The weightloss is the most important thing to me for my health, but  I'm so looking for the time I can swim in the water without feeling like everyone is staring at me.

Hello,  I see that you are in IN you might want to check out Mr. Martin out of Cincinnati http://www.cincinnatiplasticsurgery.com/index.html he has a lot of experience with WLS people.  He also has a guide for cost on his web site also as you can start to see just how much you might have to pay.  Good Luck,  Robin

I've recently had quotes from a local PS and a PS in Mexico.

For the LBL (whi*****ludes tummy, butt, and outer thighs)...

Local: 11k
Mexico: 6k

I haven't had it done yet so I can't speak about pain or healing.

I had a BL/BA, bracioplasty with axilla repair, anchor cut TT in Houston......price $17,600......pain wise I took meds for 4 days to stay on top of pain (which wasn't as bad as I expected it to be).  I was back at work (desk job) in 2 weeks.

I had mine done in Mexico (TJ).  Some p[eople are scared, but they are really professional.  I paid about 10k for tummy, arms, boobs and thighs.

I'm going to Cosmed in TJ, Mexico exactly 4 weeks from today for lower body lift and arms.  It's $9200 including anesthesia.  I figure travel expenses will be another $1000.  That's about 1/2 of what everyone else wants locally.

My local support group had a well know plastic surgeon in our area speak last Tuesday. He specializes in plastic surgery on WLS patients. The skin on an ex-heavy person is more difficult to deal with, so you really need a specialist in this field. This doctor was on the board of University of CA , San Diego, named Dr. Batra (sp), and he was born in India, but came to the US in 1980. He's well respected in the plastic's community, and these WLS doctors get together once per year and compare procedures.  Remember to get a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

I had a lower body lift (cut all the way around and up the front) and breast lift (no implants) done in 2004 for $11,500 in Minneapolis.  It was outpatient so I had no hospital costs to pay for.  Recovery for me was rough, mainly because anesthesia makes me sick and I was on the table for 5 1/2 hours...pain was tough, but narcotics are your friend.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  I was off work 3 weeks. Definitely check your surgeon out - this is a big surgery...make sure they are board certified and get some references. Good Luck!
