Weight Bouncing Question

It seems every year starting near Halloween to New Years, I find myself gaining 5-8 lbs.  (I think most of the country does too...so I find that just a normal thing) Too much food less activity... So I allow myself a little break in those pounds...and I work hard come spring to get rid of it. This year I gained a bit more than my panic cap amount and did just that...panicked! LOL  So I've been working hard (earlier than normal) to get it gone! I did! :::Whew:::: close call there! I am right  in my safe comfy range again. It's soooo hard to lose weight now because it's so different now. It's not as easy as cutting back on calories...It's getting you metabolism going and you body moving all at the same time!  And being smaller seems to make it terribly harder to lose 5 fives thatn it was to lose 20 at a large weight!  It's still a mystery to me...I'm not even sure what I do right...I know what I do wrong though! LOL

Water weight can do that to you. I gained 9 lbs. from water gain after eating something really salty.

I am only a month out from PS and have lost 5-7 pounds.  At first you gain b/c all the fluid they pump in you.  I feel in some ways that I am starting over again with trying to get an accurate body image. I had really internalized the changes post RNY but now I have to do it all over (this isn't a bad job to have its just kinda strange)  I had a lower body lift and bl/ba.   Yesterday I went into a store and had to pick up several size pants (didn't know what size I was).  Couldn't believe it when I walked out with a size 6.  Holy crap ! It is sooooo nice not to have all that extra skin in the way.  I felt so vain at first just staring in the mirror and then I decided I am going to enjoy this and marvel at the changes.  Amazing though how the negative thoughts try to work their way back in.  Having fixed my main areas with surgery I have already moved on to not liking another area .  Too funny. I have to create a whole new weight range to work with.  Who knows how that will go.  I am 5'8"  and am currently about 138.  I am just kinda waiting to let the dust settle from all this . Best of luck with your PS journey.  I hope it happens for you and that you have great results.  The PS board can be really helpful when you decide you want to pursue it further. Take care ! -Melissa

Hi Sandra :) I bounce about 10 pounds up and down and have most of my life at any weight. I generally dont worry about the weight I worry about the food. If Im eating right and my weight goes up, well my body knows whats best and will store what it needs to of water, muscle, fat and waste and it will lose what it doesnt need to hang onto. Weight isnt an indicator of much in my opinion. Focusing on the number is how maintenance turns into gain/loss cycles of dieting.  So my advice is eat right, follow your rules, make sure you are nutritionally sound and sated with yummy foods and let the scale land where it wants to.  HUGS PK

Thanks!  I know I need to relax alittle and trust but boy is that hard!  I have the fear that the weight will creep up and up and up and I just want to nip it in the bud right away.  I fight REALLY hard not to let old habits creep in also!  I guess you could say the honeymoon is over for me! HUGS

~Sandie~ Hi.I know what you are going through. I am going through the same thing. My lowest was 128 (but I had pneumonia) I average some where around 132 . However I am getting my period(In a couple of hours)I get crazy hungry. I am up to 135.5 and it freaks me out! cause it's closer to 140 but I am NOT going there. After it's  all over I go back down to about 133. aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  lol! It's a roller coaster ride. Does anyone else bloat up like that before their period??????? hugs Sandie !!!!! ox, CArol
