Sore Throat Update

I went to my PCP yesterday and saw the PA.  He gave me a cortisone shot and said it was just  a virus.  Go home and drink lots of fluids. By the time I got home I could barely swallow.  Then I couldn't talk because it hurt so bad.  I have so much mucus in my mouth, I can't get rid of it all.  Last night I started running a fever, managed to swallow some Tylenol.  Then this AM I was talking to a good friend who's a ER nurse, when I had sudden diarrhea.  She said, OK, time to go to the ER. So I just got back.  I was dehydrated, so they gave me an IV fluids and steriods.  Sent me home with a steriod Rx.  I can talk a little now, but still can't swallow.  I do feel better. They agreed, it's just a virus.  I'd heard that this thing that's going around was bad, but I don't think I've ever been this sick and had so much pain from a virus before. Every cloud has it's silver lining, I've lost 6 lbs! Michele

That's a hell of a "just a virus"!!!  It really it you hard!  Hope you start feeling better now that you got the shots and fluids!   Hopefully the worse is over.... Hugs, Anita
