GOING TO DO THE 5 DAY RE-START
HI, I HAVE NOT POSTED IN A LONG TIME, LAST POST I DID WAS WHEN I WAS DOING A DIFFERENT PROTEIN DIET LIKE CARB BUSTER, HAD A WLS FRIEND AND WE HELD EACHOTHER ACCOUNTABLE WELL NOW IT IS TIME ONCE AGAIN TO KICK THE CARBS AND I AM GOING TO DO THIS PROGRAM FOR THE 5 DAYS, WOULD LOVE SOME ONE TO CHAT WITH AND ENCOURAGE AS WELL AS BE ENCOURAGED.. IF ANY OF YOU ARE STARTING ON MONDAY LETS DO IT TOGETHER,, GOOD LUCK AND WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT WEIGHT WAS LOST BY OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN ON IT.
ALSO HOW LONG CAN WE STAY ON IT?? I WANT TO LOSE 10 LBS (OR AT LEAST HAVE MY CLOTHES FIT BETTER BY APRIL 8TH) VACATION.....

Welcome back! You were one of the first that helped me when I discovered this board.
I look at the 5DPT as a tool for getting back on track. For me it breaks the carb cycle and gets me eating healthier again. I just wi**** was permanent!
As far as weight loss, you will lose water weight. It's only designed for 5 days, but you can stay on day 5 for quite a while, just add some healthy veggies and fruit. Don't forget to up your exercise! Do this and you'll be looking great for your vacation!

thank you, i just weighed and i need this 5 day for sure it was 197 i am still down the 5 # from 2007 but still not great.. so wish me luck and thanks for the encouragement and reminder of the water weight.
i have been so bad with my water that who knows what i will lose, off to walk 2 miles,

Hi Renee,
The 5 DPT is not a diet, but a test ...I think that is why some people are disappointed in thinking they are trying a diet to lose weight and are discouraged once the Test is over that they gain weight back once they add all the complex carbs back. If you have a carb monster and some bad eating habits...This TEST is for you! It totally kills the carb monster...But if you are looking to lose weight and are eating right and making good food choices...You might want to just journal your food intake and try to lower your calories and up your exercise to lose weight. Just don't lower your protein!
Just a suggestion. You might try the 5 DPT just to get a head start in eating right and then immediately go into diet phase and see if you can keep weight loss moving along.
Just please don't think that the 5DPT is a diet...It was not designed for long term weight loss...It was designed to help your pouch take control back from your brain and the carb monster and be the tool you forgot it was!

I loved the test...I lost 4 lbs...gained back 2...Panicked...Tried cutting down on fats and empty calories and lost 10 lbs that I wanted to lose...Then began journaling and got it all stabilized and now I am maintaining that loss without gaining. It took me a month to do all this! It's slow, but it works!

Yes i want to lose weight with it and forgot all the posts that stated it helps kick the carbs, i am going to do my best today to journal intake, drink protein shakes and mostly walk and drink h2o. and then move on to day 2 i did the other carb cutting diet plan last june, lost a little, kept it off till now so i may incorporate that after day 5, meat and protein i love, know what i need to do it is to stop eating before bed.. crackers, trail mix, popcorn with lots of butter and work out. just cant understand why i don't do what i know i need to do,,,,,,
