Colonoscopy

anyone had a colonoscopy since having wls?  are we allowed to drink this colon prep? 

My primary actually suggested the "virtual colonoscopy" since my body has been through a lot of 'stress' with the RYN anyway, less obtrusive, certainly not as accurate.  I have not done it yet.  I have had a full body scan in the past and it was really neat!

I had a colonoscopy 1 year post-op and yes I drank the solution.  I was prescribed Go-Lightely in the big jug. Kathy

I had one last summer.  For the bowel prep, my gastroenterologist prescribed pills (can't remember the name of the prescription) and I had to mix 1-1/2 ounces of the laxative (sorry, once again can't remember the name of it) with cyrstal light and drink that concoction every 2 hours until I had taken a total of 4 oz of the laxative stuff.  I know every gastro is different in what their preferred method is for their patients.  Make sure they know you've had RNY and are concerned about the amount you can drink at any one time. Just did this a few weeks ago. It was fine. I took the half litely.  It was.....not tasty, but went down ok, did the trick.  The procedure itself was ok.....just took all day to get there, get thru the waiting for my turn and get home. follow drs. orders. Make sure they know about your RNY and get it done. Jeannie

yes I had my first colcnoscopy march 6 of this year. I took the pills instead of the drink. There was 32 pills to take, but I did it. My colonscopy came out fine. There was only one part where she could not get that tube up any futher so she moved me on my stomach and the tupe was able to go up futher. She said she beleives that was scar tissue from the wls. For me that could be the reason I have constpation problems. Maybe it cannot pass through that scar tissue. I'am glad I had it done, I worried for nothing.
