When do you stop feeling fat

Okay people I want some answers here.  I am only 6 months out, but I have a friend that is 18 mos. out and she still sees a size 16 in the mirror instead of a size 6. We both know that this is better than the size 26 we were, but still when do you actually feel like you are thin and not fat?                                            Question Mark

Good question ~ but I doubt you'll get a definite answer. For me, this weight loss journey is a journey of body, mind and spirit/soul.  I am not only adjusting my body by losing pounds, I need to adjust my thinking at the same time.   It will be different for everyone, harder for some than others.  But if we realise that it is a wholistic journey I believe we are more likely to adjust our body image when we look in the mirror than if we just concentrate on what the scales say. It will be interesting to see what others post in reply.

Thanks for the insight and I like your answer. I personly don't like to get on the scale everyday, maybe 2-3 times a week. I am just not used to seeing a thin person in the mirror and don't always believe it is me I am seeing, but I am still new to this. I know it will be a while for me to get used to this new person I am becoming. Again thank you, Amy

Hey Dana, Thank for replying. I knew I could count on you.  Susan T. and I were talking about this and I started wondering how long it takes or if you ever get used to it. I guess I need to PM Yvonne and get her opinion also. Susan says she has her tickets already and is going to meet up with Terry Ann in Houston and traveling up to see you. I can't wait to be able to meet you and everyone else. Amy

It took me almost three years to finally "see" how I truly look. I had the body dismorphic thing bad.... I was told to take a lot of pictures with other people in groups, especially people you see all the time, Compare yourself to them and background objects and you will begin to realize what exactly what your new body size is. Although it took years for this to finally sink in!! Take lots of pictures of yourself and hang them all around for you to look all the time, it helps!!

That is an excellent idea!!! I don't think I have had my picture taken with a group yet and I think I need to do that. I asked my husband one day to point out someone that is about my size and he showed me someone that I felt was way smaller than me. If I saw myself with others, maybe I could see for myself my real size. Thank you, Amy

i'm 14 month out and still feel fat a lot of the time because i think my mind hasn't caught up with my body yet. I'm about 120lbs but sometimes still feel like 225
