Gaining weight after 5 years (post-op)
I need some great advice as to kick-start my weight loss again. I have started gaining weight after 5 years and am scared to death I'm going to gain it all back. I would really really appreciate any help you can give. I thought if I'd eat mostly protein and drink lots of milk, (1/2 hour before and after, of course), but I can't remember if there is anything else that was very important.
The thighs are really showing it. Help!!
Thank you so much,
TCollins
hi there
well u did the first really good thing after being aware that you are having a problem, you came back here for help. so congrats on that.
i think maybe you mentally need to take yourself back to the basics and also maybe track what your eating for awhile. that is usually a good way to check on those sneaky things that somehow make it into our daily calorie count, even when we try to forget that we just had one of that or a taste of this.
the protein is a good start, and milk is a good source of protein and other nutrients as well.
are you eating 3 meals, or do you still eat several smaller meals?? are you eating sugar or did you never go back to that?? i would sit down and look at all those things.
i admire your courage in working to stop any gains now.
watch out for your carbs, they are sneaky devils and also be sure that you drink plenty of non caloric beverages, i.e. water or crystal light, diet ice tea, etc.
are you exercising, that is an area i always fall down in. spring is coming, maybe start a walking program??
good luck, hang in there, you can do this!!!!!
also, post with us when you can, there is a thread posted every day where you can review what you ate for the day and be accountable. i dont post there every day., but i am tracking my food on spark people and some other here use fitday.
welcome back to the boards, jacki
Why lots of milk? Milk while it does have calcium (though not sure how much we absorb of that) does have natural sugars in it. So I'm not sure the lots of it is good. I would think non-starchy vegies and fruit for the fiber would be good too. Kathy

Also, www.5daypouchtest.com ! This is was got me back on track & in control again.
My RNY was 8/02 & I started to gain as well. I've lost about 15 lbs so far after a re-gain of 50+ !!
How much have you gained ?
Get back to basics! I had surgery one month before you and had regained 30 lbs. I went back to all of the WLS rules the doctor gives us after surgery. It has taken 6 weeks to lose 12 lbs of the regain but I feel 100% better.
Call you surgeon and see if they will give you a plan to get you back to basics. You can do it!
Well you sure aren't alone! I am also battling regain.
Do you have any idea why you're regaining? Addressing the regain by getting back on track is key *if* getting off-track is what happened. If nothing's changed and you're eating and exercising well, you might have a surgical failure of some sort.
If you think you bumped yourself off track, just go back to what worked before you began regaining. I'm finding that that is all I needed to do (and am doing, and the weight is coming off without doing anything but that for me).f Instead of eating too much junk food and chocolate and not going to the gym and not relying on protein shakes, I'm reversing all that and walla ~ weight is coming back off.
Good luck, you have lots of support and company here.
