Massive stress, help!

So, yesterday I had to take my old cat of 15 years to the vet for his final visit. That is all I can say about that as it has me very upset. Then today I am not feeling well all day due to a cold I can't seem to shake, I am almost home when I look away for a split second to get the clicker for the gate to my apartment complex and a slam into the curb damaging the right front tire to me car. I know that is not going to be cheap to fix. The wheel is all ****eyed. I will probably have to have it towed to the garage, though I did drive it home okay. I SO want to eat something comforting, something that will negate the work I've done this week. I just don't know what else to do with this stress. I am home alone and feeling trapped. -=db=-

So sorry for all you're going thru.  I've had to reassess my comfort foods since surgery.  Sometimes I make a lighter version of an old fav, cause we don't need to constantly deny ourselves the pleasure of comfort foods.   Also trying to learn that maybe changing my perception of comfort foods would be a good thing.  Like a choco protein shake instead of choco ice cream.  Trying to retrain my brain!!!  Good luck to you, and have a little of whatever it is that helps you thru your troubles.  I give you permission!!!!!!!!!!LOL Cindy

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat.  Dunno what to do about such stresses when they're all so real.  At times like those I just try to remind myself I'll only make things worse by eating (brilliant, huh?  but it's all I got).  Hang in there and be kind to yourself.

Awww . . . I am so sorry about your cat.  I know from experience what a major stress it is losing a dear pet.   I am the last one to advise anyone about appropriately dealing w/ stress, as I am having problems myself.  I mainly just try to rely on talking some sense into myself--mainly just reminding myself not to make my good efforts be a waste.  I've been doing pretty well w/ working out again--and since I hate it so much, I try to remind myself later that night (when I have the hardest time w/ grazing) that if I eat crap, I'm sabotaging what I accomplished at the gym.  Doesn't always work. Sometimes when I just absolutely can't resist eating, I at least try to make it be as healthy as possible, something a lot better than I would have eaten way back when.  Like I love peanut butter (I really shouldn't keep it in the house) and can just eat it by the spoonfuls--so instead of doing that, I cut up an apple and just spread some pb on the pieces.  So at least I'm eating something decent that fills me up. I know I'm writing this late (almost 10:00 here in IL) and you may be in bed by the time you read this, so I hope you were able to hang in there. Jo

Always,
Jo

I'm sorry to hear about your  cat. Pet are so much a part of our lives.  To me they are family also. I feel your pain with STRESS eating. I'm a big stress eater also.  I don't have a lot of advice other than to get out of the kitchen away from the food. Try to watch some mindless tv to take your mind off of things.  Good Luck,  Robin

I am so sorry I know how this feels, last week I lost my father and when we went to view the body I just had to get away by myself so I went to a little strip mall and it was raining and I had been crying so when I went to back out I hit a car.... Not bad but I knocked the front tag off the car and scratched mine just a little, so I know how you feel. I went in to tell the girl that owned the car and just started crying I know she thought I was crazy. We all do things and that's why we have insurance. It will get better. Debbie

I can't even imagine how hard today was for you.  Music and a nice hot bath by candle light usually takes my mind off things. I set up the bathroom really nice and get out some really pretty pjs and do a face mask...This way I am being decadent without food...Still spoiling myself but not my diet! The music helps if you can sing along or hum along and not think about things. Take a cup of green tea in there too...Let the stress out into the ho****er.   I hope today is better...Hugs Anita

Hi db, I hope things are a little easier for you today. I just wanted to offer my sympathy and wish you the best.  A couple of things help me feel better when I'm stressed out. Maybe they can help you. Go for a little walk if you can manage. Touch base with some friends or neighbors. Take this (((HUG))) and know that things will get better.

Thanks you guys. I limped the car to the repair shop, it's going to cost a fortune so I had to claim it on my auto insurance. To top it all off, I have been really sick and I'm not seeming to be getting any better. My weight was back up this morning, so I need to stay the course and find things that are good to eat but not detrimental to my efforts. Must try and focus moving forward and getting past all this. -=db=-
