Hi Everyone! Thank you to everyone about the 5 day test...I'm on day 2.  I sure did want to chew something yesterday but made it through...it's amazing how those carbs grab a hold of you and don't want to let go. I'm going to do this and get back on track and when I feel weak I will get on this board and see how many other people made it through the 5 days and I can to :-) Has anyone stayed on this more then 5 days? Thank you again! Hugs. Barb

Way to go Barb!  I know what you mean about chewing, but you can make the soups for the first two days.  That helped me with the actual act of eating.   I didn't stay on longer than 5 days.  But I'm trying to eat similar to that as much as possible.  I may even do it again next week since it was much easier than I thought it would be.   Keep going, we're here for you!

Pre-Revision: 228 - I had my second baby Feb. 18, 2009
Current Weight: 186 I had a revision via lap to my RnY on August 18, 2009

By the way CONGRATS...you got through it and had a good weight loss...I wish our weight wasn't such a battle but it is.  It's so nice to have this board for support it helps so much! Hugs. Barb

Hang in there, Barb--Day 3 is almost here!!  I did the 5dpt a few wks ago, and I was ecstatic to wake up on Day 3 and get to eat some of my favorite foods--cottage cheese, regular cheese, tuna, & eggs!!  It was actually my "favorite" day of the process! You're doing fine--those 1st 2 days are pretty shocking to the body and mind, but each day after that brings back those good, healthy foods that we need to appreciate all over again!

Always,
Jo

It's gets easier by day 3.  I didn't stay on for more than five days, because the main purpose of the test is to go back to basics and eat and feel somewhat like a new post op with a nice tight pouch..Once you get that feeling and you end the carb cravings and start back on good habits...There is no reason to stay on it...You just add your fruits an veggies and grains back and you try to lose weight or maintain from there.  (Boy ..does it feel great to eat veggies again! ) I missed them sooo much! LOL Several people do it a few times....just to keep in check...I might try it again if I feel carbs taking over...I've been off carbs for over a month...although to be quite honest...My cycle beat me out this month and I've been on a little tiny sugar kick that I am hoping will die by the end of the week when I feel normal again!  LOL  Good luck!  It's a cool test! Really worked great for me! Anita
