I'm so sorry to hear this Anita.  I know nothing about this type of stuff so I'm not much help there.  Rest like they suggested and try not to stress out too badly.

{{{Dawn}}} Thanks! It's just a reminder...Gotta take those supplements and not think like teenager and say "It won't happen to me"....(We know all about teens, eh?) Little boogers!  That's what I feel like...a dumb teenager who thought she was invincible!  I learned my lesson...and I'm passing it along for those who want to think they too are invincible...WE'RE not! We REALLY do malabsorb!  Anita

Hi Anita, I *don't* have a clue--however I recently had a blood test that wasn't accurate--so hang in there--and try not to worry too much. Best, Kim

Thanks Kim!   I'm just uneducated on anemia so I'll be fine once I learn more about it.  The CBC counts are what is worrisome, if anything. I have noticed some things that I thought was just the lazy winter hibernation thing...But I think I really am just tired...and not filled with the energy I normally have. I ignored it and blamed it on the cold...It's making sense now.  I see more and more of the little symptoms that I just ignored and blamed on sugar highs (like racing heart after eating) My sugar was great! So it wasn't that.  And little panic attack feelings here and there. It's all making sense now.  But I am a rationalizer. I brush things off that maybe I shouldn't. I don't think I am all that low on iron...nothing that I can't build back up anyway. Oh and I watched That Catherine Tate on BBC...OMIGOD...What a total nut that woman is!  I can hardly understand her thick British accent sometimes...but she is about as silly as silly gets!   Hope you're doing good too...Minding those Peanut M&M's??? If only it was easy to stop at ...say 5?  Impossible!  LOL Anita

Hi Anita, Actually I have been pretty in control of at least the peanut M&Ms---for me that just means NOT eating them!!! I still struggle every single day---but I think I'm doing OK--for the most part. Catherine Tate is just OUTRAGEOUS!!! You've seen Little Britain...right? Have a great weekend---and I'm sure all will be Ok with the bloodwork... Best, Kim

RNY on 10/05/94
iron
b12
vit D

You were taking Twin D? So only 400? How many?

Sit down. We start our proximal RNY on 10,000 D (2 pills). And distals and DS at 50,000 (1 pill).

You'd prolly fall off you chair if you saw how we fix 'em fast. LOL

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

LOL...I keep blaming it on being lazy like a "hibernating bear " in winter! I felt this way all winter. ( I am noramlly the kinda person that bounces off the walls, kinda full of go go go...So yeah...I'm feeling it, I guess.  But for the most part, I feel fine. I notice now that it's not just being lazy, I'm actually tired!  I don't feel great and energetic, but I don't feel awful either. I don't get sleepy at night...and have to force myself to bed. I'm going to try to get more than 5-7 hours of sleep (that's about what I get now)  Occassionally i get mild panic attack like feelings. Racing heart for no apart reason. Flushed red face...That's about it...Most everything seems to be somewhat normal! If I didn't know I would just have kept blaming myself for being lazy in the winter because I'm always freezing (Another symptom) But that's a normal symptom for us all after losing so much weight!  I always get dizzy and light-headed when i stand too fast from squating or kneeling...So I mean the symptoms are hard to distinguish from what is somewhat normal for me.  I feel fine... I got my TOM today! So now I have a headache and feel like crap and I am always drained at this TOM. So again...It's so hard to really tell even now if I feel bad or worse or just regular me!  LOL

Elevated platelets can be caused by iron deficient anemia so I suspect that the blood counts/shapes are all tied together with the anemia.  (My hubby has a platelet issue - the other way - due to a bone marrow issue so we've read a bit on platelet counts.) I've gotten my Vitamin D up from the low to mid 20s to high 50s by increased my intake of Dry D.  My doc didn't want to do the large dose and I debated but it has responded nicely.  I'm taking 2000 ius plus what is in my multis and what is in my calcium (I do 5-6 doses a day) so it adds up.  I'd try the 10,000 ius and get that up - keep those bones! Hubby and I do 5000 mcgs of sublingual B12 daily and that seems to be keeping us > 2000.  It's high but our docs says "We like it high." Good luck with the rest of your results and the treatments to get your counts up. Kathy
