I have to say that I'm finding this much easier than I expected.  That said, I have been missing my Coke Zero.  I know, I shouldn't have soda to start with, but this has been my lunch companion for a while.

Today I had the Feta Chicken Salad for lunch.  This morning I had a few hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese.  I will have another egg for a snack later this afternoon and chicken salad for dinner.

Tonight I plan to make the Cajun Shrimp to have tomorrow.  Sounds pretty tasty!

I love Coke zero too...I have a bottle gathering dust right now! I have not had a carbonated drink since I did the test a month ago. I see you got yout photo up!  Good for you! You remind me of a good friend of mine. She has that same shiny happy smile!  Your meals sound good!  Just reminded me it's passed lunch time and I have shrimp too!  Yummy! I wish you continued good luck! (It's hard to stay away from rice, isn't it? ) I still have a tiny bit now and then...Brown rice just isn't the same, is it? Anita

Brown rice isn't the same at all.  But then again I've had rice issues since surgery.  So I'm not missing it too much. I just came back to my desk from our kitchen at work.  It's killing me not to get a soda today.  This is the first day it's bothered me at all.  I know I need to stop having carbonation though. Thanks for the encouragement and compliments.

HEY!!! WELCOME! :-) :-) :-) Here's the website:  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ The plan:  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html And the summary I put together ;-)

THE FIVE DAY POUCH TEST

Day 1 and 2:  Liquid Protein
Low-carb protein shakes, broth, clear or cream soups, sugar-free gelatin and pudding

You can have as many low-carb protein shakes as you like to satisfy hunger or cravings. The purpose of all liquids is to break any snacking, grazing or processed carbohydrate habits. In addition the liquids will work to cleanse your system and prepare you for the following three days.

Try to reduce your caffeine intake as well, but do not stop caffeine cold turkey or you will feel sick and frustrated potentially losing the desire to continue with the pouch test.

RULES:  It is very important to drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day. This will prevent dehydration, will help curb cravings and will flush your body of toxins and fat. Sufficien****er intake improves kidney function and cell processes.

Day 3:  Soft Protein

Canned tuna or salmon
Eggs cooked as desired.
Fresh soft fish (tilapia, sole, orange roughy) - baked or grilled, and lightly seasoned.

RULES:  You get to eat as much as you want as often as you want.  You only get 15 minutes each time you sit down to eat. No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals and no drinking with your food. A dry pouch will hold your soft protein longer helping your to feel full and fed longer.

Day 4:  Firm Protein

Ground meat (beef, turkey, lamb) cooked dry and lightly seasoned, shellfish, scallops, lobster steamed and seasoned only with lemon, salmon or halibut steaks, grilled and lightly seasoned.

RULES:  You get to eat as much as you want as often as you want.  You only get 15 minutes each time you sit down to eat. No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals and no drinking with your food. A dry pouch will hold your soft protein longer helping your to feel full and fed longer. Remember to drink plenty of water between meals.

Day 5:  Solid Protein

White meat poultry or pork cooked dry and lightly seasoned, beef steak grilled or broiled.

RULES:  Remember to chew chew chew. Measure your portion (4-6 ounces) and eat only until you feel your pouch tighten. Remember, only 15 minutes per meal, so you'll have to work fast to chew your food completely.  No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals and no drinking with your food. Don't go hungry! Remember, you can eat as often as you want as long as it is solid protein, consumed without liquids and measured in 4-6 ounce portions.

On the website www.5daypouchtest.com there are recipes for each day as well.  I suggest making them the night before so each morning you're all set. Good luck.  It hasn't been too bad and I'm pretty much done with day 3.

You sound like you're doing great! Day 3 was my favorite--I love eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, etc.!! Day 4--also enjoyed--moving on to shrimp (yum!--had it a couple times) and some baked tilapia w/ lemon juice, a tiny bit of butter, & some parmesan sprinkled on top.   I, too, had gotten ridiculous w/ the amount of Diet Coke (in all its varieties) I was drinking.  I never drank w/ meals, but I had almost completely replaced my Crystal Light w/ DC.  Since doing the 5dpt, I have managed to stay away from it and am back to my good ol' CL.  I plan on saving the Diet Coke for certain social occasions only, not for just everyday consumption. You're over 1/2-way through, and I'll bet you're feeling really good, physically & mentally!

Always,
Jo

Thanks Jo, I am feeling really good about things.  The first three days weren't too bad, although I'm glad to be past the first two! Last night I made the Cajun shrimp to have today.  I gave my husband a piece last night and he said it was very tasty.  That means I'll be enjoying my lunch and dinner today. I still miss the Coke Zero, but like you, I plan to keep away from it as a regular drink.  I need to get some Crystal Light though.  As much as I like water, I need more flavor. Diane
