Body Bugg - opinions??? (x-post)

So in looking for places to get my RMR tested, one of the personal trainers I spoke to recommended the Body Bugg.

http://www.bodybugg.com/get_bugged.php

Has anyone heard of it, or had any experience with it?

Sounds like a good concept, but it's a little pricey! Maybe I could buy one - use it for a while and then rent it out to get my money back - LOL!

Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think!

Holy Freakamoly!  That IS pricey!   Even the web-only option seems rather high in price... and it appears to be quite similar to Fitday.com... unless I'm missing something...  Angie

It's expensive enough, and then add the monthly service fee and YIKES! I evaluated it and I don't think I'd learn anything important. I use SparkPeople (free) and I have a Tanita IronMan body composition scale (no monthly fee.) Do we need an expensive gadget on our arms to remind us of the pouch rules, and to move every day?

I was looking at it more for the calories burned part. I use fitday.com to log my intake so I don't know if I'd use the web portion. But I didn't catch that there was a monthly service fee!

Oh yes there is!!! :-) :-) :-) I use FITDAY... I am not all that familiar with the web version, as I purchased the PC version, whi*****ludes that calories burned part you mention.  You can log your activities and it keeps track of calories you burn...  I also love http://www.caloriesperhour.com/ which offers all kinds of neat calculators, including the calories burned one ;-) Angie

SparkPeople also allows you to track your exercise, and it automatically records a good estimate of what you've burned based on your current weight. I can use that information, plus the BMR from my IronMan scale to get a good idea of how many calories I burn in a day. Really though, it all boils down to: "Do my jeans fit?" Keep doing what I'm doing. If not, track food more closely, and increase cardio.

Bekah, You look fabulous and unless you are having a lot of trouble maintaining...(Which I noticed you are not and not even worried about the 2-3 lb wobble)  Then that gadget is just 200-500 bucks of obsessive waste of money! LOL  (I want one!)  But no not for the price.  Otherwise, it looks like a fun toy for sure, if not an really ugly piece of jewelry...haha Anita

Hello, Bekah! I have seen something similiar to this product.  A good friend of mine volunteers and is active in the bariatrics program in our area.  BODY MEDIA gave her one to try.  She has had it for a month and she absolutely LOVES it.   She showed it to me and I was AMAZED at what it does!  AMAZED!  It will even tell you the efficiency of your SLEEP!!!!     It tells her when she wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!  It will even "warn" her that she is on a "gaining trend" or convey that she is on a "losing trend."   It's WILD!    She connects it to her computer (which has the program on it) through a USB port and can generate incredible reports!   It will even tell her how many steps she has walked that day!!!!     BODY MEDIA just came out with a smaller device that isn't as bulky as hers and she does have the watch band so she can read it with ease during the day.   My understanding was that the product she has is only being marketed and sold to physicians -- particularly for Bariatric programs.  Then the Bariatric Surgeons can have their patients wear it for two weeks at a time or have them rent it.   Sounds like $$$$$$$$ are stake here!   WOW!   In addition, the possibility this product has in the future is astounding!  BP checks -- maybe insulin checks!   I will certainly be watching out for this!!   I would love to have one just for the "fun" of it and I think it would be an excellent additional tool for success!  The downsides that I see is that you do still have to be "honest" with it and accurately record food intake.  I can see how this would help with the medical community as well as insurance companies -- ut I also se a potential for insurance companies to use them to their advantage in having one more way to not give approvals.  There are so many angles to this contraption that I literally thought about it for DAYS!  LOL  Let me know if you buy one!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this helps!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.
