Ok, I've committed to doing the 5dpt beginning tomorrow in support of a non-wls friend that is trying to regain some control and if possible lose a few lbs.....she is getting married in 3 1/2 weeks and asked me to help her; so I am and hey why not if you see my eating the past week, I'm throwing in some sweets during the day and actually some unnecessary grazing. Wanna join?  Let me know and I can post a daily thread for all of us that decide to do it because we KNOW we can. Hugs,

Hi, there. Would you be so kind as to tell me what a 5dpt is? And what I need to do? Thanks, Diana Mora

Diana, here is the link:   www.5daypouchtest.com , there are people that believe in it and others that thinks it's nothing more than a fad diet.  I've done it before and felt much more control after doing it......if you are interested let me know.  We can PM each other for support!

Thanks so much! I'm going to sit and really look at the program tonight. How did it work for you when you did it? Do you feel in control again? I'm just getting back to OH, I'm up to 200lbs. I did suffer a major stroke, 2 yrs ago, stopped smoking, and was on meds that helped with the weight gain. I'm shamed, saddened, and feel that my rny was for nothing. So I will sit and research it. Thanks again.

I just finished the 5 day pouch test.. here are my thoughts the good - it makes you follow the rules you should be already - no drinking 30 minutes before/after meals, gets you focused on protein and sticking to a meal length the bad - you will lose weight on i****er weight* any time you cut out bread carbs (and the majority of your other carbs) you will lose water... I lost 6lbs on the 5dpt, within 3 days 4 of it came back, then another pound... I am down 1lb since doing it 2 weeks ago but I think thats due to my workouts and not the 5dpt. When I finished the 5dpt and went back to 'normal proper post-WLS eating'... I was strapped to the toilet... I ate a salad and about died from it - stomach cramping, gas, and running back and forth to the potty... it took about 3 days for my digestion to get back to normal. Personally I will not do the 5dpt again. I did it because I see people always talking about it and I had a goal I wanted to hit by my birthday and figured what the heck. I did hit that weight goal for my birthday, but was quickly back up from it when I started to eat normally again.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

Diana, this is my experience......I did lose weight 4 lbs and I didn't gain them back.....in fact I started at 134.9 lbs, started the 5 day pouch test, lost 4 lbs and I've continued to lose be regaining control of what I eat.....high protein, good carbs......today I weighed 126 lbs so down 8.9 lbs.....my goal is to stay between 125 - 130 lbs. I do see myself nibbling on sugar the past week (my public fitday journey is in my sig if you are interested) and I want to nip it in the bud now......so in support of my coworker and knowing it will help me refocus and stay focused for a while I decided I'd give it another shot.....whether I lose weight or not it's the goal.....to feel in control is!

So far so good... :-)  Just had shake #4.   Plus, I've actually drank more water already than I normally do all day... that's one habit I need to get back into... drinking more water!  :-) Thanks for checking in! ;-) Angie
