Hey Everyone

What a day....I didn't even have time to post my thread this am...sorry about that

This weekend I did my weight training and boxing on Saturday and Boxing on Sunday.  I went to a strong class this am and will be going to my boxing class tonight.  I hope the latest storm will hold off until I get home.  My husband is out of town so I pray my doggie will not get sick and let me go to my class.  Poor baby

Here is a great tip on 6 Ways To Train At Work -

You may not have a gym at your office, but you can really get a really good workout in, all while hitting the daily grind.

1.)  Bring the gym to you - Have your own office and or cubicle to  yourself?  Get a pair of dumb bells and or resistance bands to pump up some reps when you have time.

2,)  Desk Squats - Stand up in front of your chair and with your abs braced and your arms out in front of you, move down like you are going to sit on  your chair, stop just before hitting your chair.  Raise back up slowly.  Repeat

3.)  Park Far - the further you park away the further you will walk.

4.)  Skip the elevator and take the stairs.  Take off your shoes and put on your running shoes and run up and down as fast as you can.

5.)  In between typing on the keyboard stop and give yourself a good stretch to keep the blood flowing.

6.)  Isometrics - squeeze  your glutes, abs, arms and legs while sitting  in your chair.

So My Friends, Did You Move To Lose and or Maintain Today?  Come on, I know it's hard but summer is coming (please, please, please, please) and we are going to look good if  it kills you

Take care,
Kathy

Hi Kathy, I've read these posts and been inspired but never posted myself before.  My job is heavily physical so on hard days I don't do any additional exercise.  This weekend I used my treadmill only once...should have done it twice but it was ice taking a day off and 'just' doing housework instead.    At my job I'm lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects, climbing stairs and ladders, speed-walking for customer help and am generally on my feet for 8 hours.  I think I will try to add your suggestion of isometrics too, that is a good one!   Keep up all your hard work! Molly

Hi Molly Welcome and thanks for posting.  Wow, you really do have your own personal gym at work.  What a great workout.  Do you wear a step counter?  Or maybe a heart rate monitor?  It would be fun to see how many cals you burn a day and or steps you take.  Make it fun We hope to see you here often! Take care, Kathy

Hi Everyone! I did my usual mile walk and 20 minutes on my stepper.  I have added some mini weight stuff too - I hold a can of cat food in each hand and do various different lifts while I am on my stepper!  Hopefully I'll get some tone going on in my arms.  I also have started doing stomach crunches - I hold my weight up on my two hands and lift my knees up to my chest - up and down up and down.  Works out my arms and stomach at the same time.  I can do 10 so far, but plan to increase as and when I can.  Doing little bits and seeing results so can do a little bit more... Great ideas for the office - thanks

Hi Kathy, I walked 4.5 miles in an hour, average heart rate 152, max heart rate 169. 10017 steps by 1:30. 12252 steps total. 5.8 miles today. TOM is here :{ I want to eat everything.  I really need to come up with routine for the weekend.  I am consistant during the week and then I take two days off.  When I walk on monday,  I am so tired,  I do the whole walk but I really feel it.  I am going to start strength training.  Someone is going to work with me tommorow.  I can dedicate a whole hour every week day to fitness so the excuse that I don't have the time just doesn't work for me.  Do you have an opinion on what could work well for me?  I dont now if I should walk 3 days and strength train 2 or if I should walk half the time everyday and lift everyday the other half hour.  When the snow and mud are gone hopefully soon I have a beautiful 1 hour walk that I do with my dog and I can do that in addition to what I do now, but that has to wait for the weather.  I found out that my BMR is almost 1700 calories and I never eat that much. I bumped up my caloric intake a few weeks ago because I think I was too low.  I average about 1200-1300 a day.  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.  The person who is going to help me tommorow is not a trainer,  he is someone who works at the fitness center I go to.  I have access to some great equipment too.  I love my heart rate monitor and my pedometer!  My husband bougth me an MP3 player and my kids helped me load it,  my 9 year old had to help me sync the songs,  how funny is that.  Thanks to anyone *****plies to me. Dana
