day 4 of 5dpt
I just finished the 5 day pouch test.. here are my thoughts
the good - it makes you follow the rules you should be already - no drinking 30 minutes before/after meals, gets you focused on protein and sticking to a meal length
the bad - you will lose weight on i****er weight* any time you cut out bread carbs (and the majority of your other carbs) you will lose water... I lost 6lbs on the 5dpt, within 3 days 4 of it came back, then another pound... I am down 1lb since doing it 2 weeks ago but I think thats due to my workouts and not the 5dpt. When I finished the 5dpt and went back to 'normal proper post-WLS eating'... I was strapped to the toilet... I ate a salad and about died from it - stomach cramping, gas, and running back and forth to the potty... it took about 3 days for my digestion to get back to normal.
Personally I will not do the 5dpt again. I did it because I see people always talking about it and I had a goal I wanted to hit by my birthday and figured what the heck. I did hit that weight goal for my birthday, but was quickly back up from it when I started to eat normally again.
First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)
1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
