Therapy?
I was curious as to what kind of specialist is the best for us to see regarding our WLS? I have had alot of emotional and mental issues and seem to be unable to concentrate on my WLS or motivate myself and was thinking of seeing someone. What kind of doctor do we go to?

Are you looking for a Pyschologist? If so, you might want to try Dr. Kathy Nickerson. She's a member of the OH Mental Health board and is in Newport Beach. She posts on the main borad fairly often.

I actually met my therapist at a support group meeting when she was the guest speaker. My surgeon's office highly recommended her b/c she specializes in eating disorders. I then had to call my insurance co to make sure that she was covered under their plan. I don't know that it matters if they are a psychologist or a psychiatrist~more importantly to me was that they specialized in eating disorders due to my food addiction and emotional eating issues. Give your surgeon's office a call~I'm sure they can direct you to someone that will work best for you. Good Luck!

I started with a social worker but she and I weren't a compatible match as she is quite a large woman. I loved her views but i began to think that if she couldn't help herself with her weight issues how the heck could she help me? I am now with a psychologist and I am getting someplace. I have coping mechanisms now and ways to avoid the problem areas, i'm quite excited. ANDI
