Ima Newby - 2 years out
Hi all - What a great group!!
I've been lurking for the past week and am thrilled to find a support group that addresses so much of what we grads are going through. Color me happy!!
Had RnY 12-29-05. Went from 312.5 to 168 and immediately bounced back to 192. Pretty much been in the upper 180's for the last year. Am recommitted to reaching a new goal of 162. My pcp chose anything under 190 for a successful result.
When I reached 168, being in the golden years (62), I looked so haggard with a turkey neck and sags galore.
Now I hope to lose this next 20 more slowly this time and maybe not look quite so scary.
That's me in a nutshell. Glad to meet you all.

Hi Shar, glad to see you posting on the Grad board, it is definitely a place for us.......we all realize the challenges we fast are with us NOW, although the honeymoon had challenges the majority were able to lose without much effort.
Good luck on losing the next 20.....take it one day at a time and know that you have your tool, listen to what your body tells you. We are here for you, if you need anything shout, encouragement on this board is phenominal.

Hi Shar, nice to meet you! Congratulations on recommitting to get to your goal. There are so many helpful people here on this board that you'll probably have no trouble at all getting your food plan back under control. Have you read all the posts about the Five Day Pouch Test? I just finished it and am so glad to have done it...it really reduced the strength of the Carb Monster. It isn't gone but I feel so much happier not fully controlled by it.
Hang in there!
Molly
Hi Molly,
Thanks for the welcome. I've been watching the Five Day and it looks really interesting. I've lost 6 pounds this week just from getting back on track but I'll definitely try the Five Day when I hit the first plateau, which I will, sure as I'm breathing.
I, too, am constantly fighting the Carb Monster, as we all are. Got him pretty much penned up right now but I know he'll show up again at the most unexpected time.
Another change I made this week that my body seems to like is switching from Whey protein to Soy protein. We'll see.

IF WE ALL HOLD HANDS WE WILL ALL SUCCEED., I JUST KNOW IT
HUGS, JACKI
Thanks for joining us! Yep, it sounds like you've come to the right place! I love the grads board
and get encouragement both from those who are maintaining successfully and from those like me who are fighting the good fight w/ some re-gain (or those who are just still chugging away trying to reach goal). You'll find that there's always someone here who's "been there, done that" no matter what specific issue!
Hope to see you frequently! And I'm personally glad to welcome someone who is . . . let's say in the 2nd 1/2-century of life!! I just turned 58 and sometimes feel like the grandma of the grads board--but that's OK! I'm wa-a-a-y better in every way than I have been for many, many years!
Jo

Always,
Jo
Hi Shar...
Welcome and glad you decided to change your status from lurker to poster! I love when that happens...I had nearly the same stats as you (I started 315lb...got to 158 and maintained at 165.)
Then had to struggle with an all time high of 178 this past year. I got that under control...but still struggling to hold it steady! I'm a bit lazy in winter...and have found soooo much inspiration here.
Sounds like you have a plan! Hopefully it will all go well and you can teach us how to do it! :)
Have fun!
Anita
