o.k. I just had black beans then I had yogurt w/fiber cereal in it & I am stuffed. How much of this can you all eat ? I'm asking because I feel too full & a little sick again. I wasn't satisfied just with the beans. Maybe I should have stopped there however, still felt hungry. Or eat a veggie with them. (late morning I had shrimp yes, i know I eat it every day :) Thank you !

I usually measure out one cup of beans and start with that. Then I wait a while and see if I'm full. I figure about 1.5 cups is all I can handle. Now if it's meat and it's chewy, it's a whole lot less. I have to cut pretty small pieces and chew pretty well so that I eat slow enough to be able to tell when I'm full. A nice tender steak or buffalo burger? I can eat about 5 ounces by weight (I still weigh about 3/4 of the time so be sure).
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Yep, that sounds about right for me as well. I usually eat out of a coffee cup. Thanx for the tips...I'll have to be more careful these days. I had almost forgotten ! Surgery still working for me :)

That's a great idea when you're new out! I'll have to remember that to recommend to others. I just keep measuring cups around for portion control, just until I get the hang of it...Probably take me 10 years to get the hang of it but whatever. Life is a learning experience.

You can buy a little scale and weigh your food too. I still had mine from like a hundred years ago when I did weigh****chers!   I keep my meats at 4-6 ounces per meal...(snacks I go for 2-3 ounces) Grains and cereal I try to keep 3-4 ounces and not more Fruits and veggies...I just don't care!  LOL I just eat what I want. I can only eat one small fruit anyway or the sugar will make me ill.  I always eat fruit as a snack and not with my meal or I will not get all my protein or grains in for the day.  That's just what works for me (when I am being a perfect little WLS person)  Doesn't always work out that way...but I try!  LOL Anita

Thanx Anita ! I'll have to pick one up. DAH ! It's terrible how I just let myself go off track so bad & forgot all of this ! (almost embarrasing :)

Oh no!  Don't be silly, girl! I pulled my scale out from the top shelf of my kitchen cabinet recently, just to keep myself more honest. I pull it out now and again just to see if I still have a good eye...But now I leave it out!  I just remember my nut saying...."When you are a few years out, you should be able to eat 7-9 ounces per meal"....I though that was sooo much for such a little pouch. But she was right...that's about what I can eat. I spread out my meals to snacks and eat some 6 times a day...sometimes more or less...But I am hungry every 3 hours so I try to eat snacks only to take away the hunger and no more. That is challenging when something tastes really good! It's always a journey...That's the great thing about posting, you get so many great ideas or things that just slip your mind.  I fell off track too there for a while and was really struggling to stop cravings, hunger and eating improperly. I knew I was off track. I didn't know how much little pouch rules make a huge difference! I got here just in the nick of time. I could easily have been a success gone terribly wrong!
