I am three years out from surgery and now have an incisional hernia that is quite large..  Anyone else had this, what was done, and is this an outpatient procedure?  Thanks. Michele

I had a herniated belly button & it was taken care of 5yrs ago during my RNY. So, I'm sorry I'm not able to be more specific on details for your situation. Hopefully someone here has more knowledge ? Maybe do a web search & see what comes up until you can get answers from your doc. I didn't even realize I had it until after the surgery & was told. Did the Dr. say what caused it 3 yrs out ? I sure hope your not in to much pain or discomfort. Good luck and take care !

I had one, it was huge. I had it repaired along with my LBL.  What ticked me off was that even though every doctor consulted said that the panni would pull out a repair, they refused to cover any skin removal. It was cheaper for me to pay out of pocket in Mexico for the entire surgery, than to have the hernia covered here and pay for the LBL.

I had one repaired last summer and it wasn't that big of a deal.  It could be outpatient, but my doc recommended overnight stay for pain control.  Glad I did that, too.  I stayed home from work for 2 weeks, long enough for the swelling to go down so my pants fit, lol.
