Its now been a year since my wls and I have lost about 130 pounds and am thrilled with the results. I still have about 15 to go to make my Dr. happy and 50 for that "perfect" weight.  All that being said - I strangely am feeling hungry again.  I have a lapband - which I love - and it isn't a restriction problem - it seems to be a head hunger problem.  I am excercising now - 3 months at curves.  I try to keep my calories under 1350 a day - I can keep losing about 1.5 lbs. a week at that rate.  But my calories are starting to jump - and now seem to average 1500 - but are jumping around.  Any suggestions. I haven't arrived yet - I still want to lose a bit more weight.

This is the Day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it!

Hi Peggy, a big congrats on your weight loss! That is fabulous!!!  :) I know it's a strange feeling to be hungry after going so long of not having that feeling, but it is normal and especially when you are exercising your body will need more calories.  That was a big problem for me early on, when I was about 6 months out, I was exercising heavily and I was really feeling weak and would crash during my workouts, and during the day it seemed like I was starving.  Turns out after a phone call to my dietician, I was not eating enough to maintain the level of exercise I was doing.  That was my personal case.   Do you have access to your dietician/nutritionist?  They can help customize a plan for you taking into account that you are exercising (which is fanstastic!!).  Sometimes all it takes is a little adjustment.   I totally understand the other side of it too, the head hunger.  I have been fighting demons a lot lately being 2+ years out, but have also adjusted to being satisfied with a taste of something if I am really craving it badly enough.  But this is also something that is a personal choice, some can't have just a bite of something.  But some can and control it after teaching themselves and learning what their boundaries and balance is.  It can be very difficult.   I wish you luck!  Keep us posted!  Keep up the great work! ~Shannon

I had RNY but, I know the feeling too well also. I had to totally change my eating habits again. I went back to bad habits because I had such an appetite. I could eat anything & was always hungry. Now back on track I STILL have head hunger. Yesturday was bad for me but, got thru it by eating some fiber & yogurt...jello pudding (no sugar, low cal) beef jerky, protein bars...not all at once of course. I tried to nibble on good choices. ESPECIALLY when you have family ordering pizza...bread stix etc. It is hard at times but, you have VERY LITTLE TO GO !!!!!!! Maybe try something new that's healthy. Good luck to you !

Great job Peggy, I found that journalling everything I eat on www.fitday.com or www.sparkpeople.com is helpful.  I have been using fitday since I got on track.  Everything I eat goes in my journal.  I also log my excercise and other activities.  I am 6 years out and did great for 4 years.  Old habits crept in and now I had to get back on track.  I had a 30 pound rebound weight gain and am working on reversing it.  I am on track.  The accountability thread helps me,  I do well when I do things in a group and that thread keeps me accountable to myself.  I also am trying my best to become more active and am following the Move to Lose  thread too.  Learning more about how to stay active.  Good luck Dana
