5DPT
Bummer.
How quickly did you re-gain it? I know that when you're on a very high protein diet, as soon as you add back the carbs (even good ones), there's usually a slight rebound. Maybe not for everybody, but I think it's typical. That's why, even though I'm losing very well this week, I fully expect that I might gain back a little--but then I hope to keep losing!
The frustration with this weight thing just seems never-ending! Sigh.

Always,
Jo
Hey Bethany, alot of what we lose is water with the 5DPT.. b/c we are focusing so much on protein and lowering the carbs so when we eat carbs again the body naturally attacts more water back.. it sucks I know but it happens.

Thanks for the responses. That's probably what it is. I don't eat a lot of carbs to begin with, and the ones I do eat are the good ones. I gained it back pretty quick. I did it the weekend before Mardi Gras. Aunt Flo was also in town, so I attributed it to that, but the weight never came off. It's ok though. I'm satisified to an extent. I would really like to be solidly in the 150's before plastics, but I can live with it if I'm not. I mean, I am a size 8. I don't think I every wore a size 8. Maybe enutero.
Bethany,
I lost 4 lbs too on the 5DPT...Then like you gained 2 back in a few days...and I just couldn't believe it...I have stayed very strict with myself and been a good little WLS patient! No sugar...no bad carbs. The 5D really helped me to be full and cut carbs. Then I started exercising a bit more lately and within 3 weeks have lost my 10 lbs...but of course I just can't get it to stabilize and keep bouncing up and down and it's making me INSANE!!!! LOL But I did notice one thing...The harder I exercise the day before I weigh...I always have a loss!
Yesterday I walked (in the cold, not my most favorite thing to do) for 1 1/2 hours...and I had a three lb loss this morning! I was thrilled..I know that lack of exercise is my biggest winter problem and I am about the laziest person in the winter! I could hibernate all winter and just let someone wake me in the spring! (Oh and wake me daily for 6 small meals and snacks too! ) LOL So that's just my experience...I cannot lose with diet alone (like I wish I could)...I personally have to exercise.
I'm in an 8 now too...And the other day I put on some Levis and I had to fight to get them up and thought...OH NO...damn! I'm walking around all uncomfy but thought that maybe they just got dried a little too long and would stretch out....Later before dinner I said heck with this and took them off....They were my summer size 6's! LMAO! I was soooo releived! At least I can get them on! Was sporting a muffin top, but they were on! I don't even dare try 6's in the winter! LOL
I think I need glasses...That 6 looked just like an 8!
Anita
I exercise, too. I cut back a bit because I think I was pushing too hard. I mean I was doing weights and cardio 5-6 times a week. I now do cardio 3-4 times a week, and weights 2-3 times. I don't know if my body is done losing. I'm kind of hoping it's not since I would like to be about 155 when I look into plastics. That means I have 6 pounds to lose. I use to track my food, but don't do that much anymore. Now before I get yelled at let me tell you why. I eat the same stuff. Not everyday, but most of the time. I love my diet, and I know what's in each thing I eat. I measure things our religiously to make sure. I'm still trying ot get my calories right. I had a BMR done and I burn like 2600 calories a day. I need no more than 1900 to maintain. I can't even get close to that. I'm still tyring to get it up to the 1400's. I'm a teacher, so I can't really stop to have a higher calorie meal during the day. My calories are so much better during the summer. Here's to us yo-yoers.
