Day 4 question
Hi gang, esp. my fellow 5dpt-ers and cheerleaders!
I'm happy to report I've made it to Day 4 and am doing great! Yesterday was fantastic--all foods I love--tuna, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese!
So for Day 4, I'm not real crazy about the various seafood that's listed on the 5dpt website. I did buy a frozen package of Gordon's tilapia (butter-garlic flavor), thinking I could scrap off excess sauce. Ground beef is also listed. What is something good to do w/ it other than just broil a patty & put cheese on it? I'm just not very creative--I do the absolute simplest things w/ my food!
It's already noon, and I just had more tuna/cheese melt like I had yest. (cause I love it!), and I will probably have a cottage cheese snack this afternoon. But if anyone is reading this in the middle of the day and has any ideas for Day 4, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks! And I hope all of you are doing well w/ this! I feel really good and am so-o-o glad I decided to do this!
Jo

Hi Jo,
That's great that you're doing so well !!
Can you feel a differance yet w/pouch tightening ? You may not yet.
Well, not sure if you like shrim*****t but, I always buy it frozen by the pound, de-veined & w/tails only & put them in the microwave. Whatever seasoning you like cajun or I just dip it in ****tail sauce. My grocery store sales it fresh or in a re-sealable bag.
It's quick too.
That's what I've been surviving on.
Have fun !

Oh! I forgot about shrimp--I
shrimp!! Thanks for reminding me! One of our grocery stores sells it from a freezer bin--as much or little as you want--and it's very tasty!
Not sure I can tell a distinct pouch-tightening, but I am very satisfied from the amounts of food I've been eating Day 3 & 4. Can't say I'm free from head hunger, but I'm doing OK and am not physically hungry. (However, before I did this, I rarely suffered from physical hunger--I just grazed--on both good & junk foods.)
I keep hoping for that feeling of not even wanting the junk carbs, as many who have done the 5dpt say they feel totally "weaned" from them and have no big desire. I'm afraid I'm not at that point! I feel that at any time, I could wolf down the junk!
I'm just hoping that after doing this, I will be much more in control and really appreciate the good foods like I did during my 1st year! And hopefully, I won't want to have the 5dpt have been a waste! (I have been losing--will post my results after the last day!)
Thanks for the reminder about shrimp!

Always,
Jo
Make it like a taco...without the taco! LOL I do that with ground turkey and mix a some salsa and taco spices (You can get a taco spice mix package) a scoop of greek yogurt (plain) or even regular plain on the side and melt cheese on top. (The yogurt tastes just like sour cream only it's a protein!) I love it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fry it up add parmesan and white american and maybe a colby or cheddar or other cheese favorite with some onion powder and that's a really nice taste! The parm adds a really awesome flavor...If you add a bit of milk or cream...It's nice and creamy too...Just a little!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
fry up with a sprinkle of mushroom soup mix with a little water and melt swiss cheese for taht mushroom swiss burger flavor...umm...
So now I am having head hunger just talking about food....
I'm going to take my dog for a walk! LOL
I'm thinking I had a steak on day five..but I stopped my journal on day 3! I know I had salmon quite a bit...I had trouble either day 4 or five because I didn't plan enough meats! HMMM????
Well...I know one thing...you are on the home stretch now! That last day was the true test! It was just amazing...Can't wait to hear what you all think...Day 6 when you go back to adding foods...you will be amazed how efficient your pouch really is! I'm so excited for you!...
:::Looking for my sneakers:::
Bye!!!
Anita
Thanks so much, Anita! I'm tellin' ya--sometimes I just can't think of obvious things! These suggestions ALL sound delicious! What I don't use today, I'll use tomorrow or over the wkend!
I have virtually all the ingredients here at home, so I'm good to go!
It feels so good to actually be excited about good, quality food again!
Thanks for all your encouragement to all of us this week!

Hey Jo!
Well you and I are both on day 4. I have to agree with you, i don't feel any real signifigant pouch tightening yet, BUT, I am NOT hungry....well, I do have the head hunger...but I am not really hungry!
Today, I had a half of an Oh Yeah Bar......I know it doesn't say on the website that we can have it, but it is low in carbs (well, 12 grams for the whole bar and I am only eating half) and 26 grams of protein. Anyhow, it is coated in chocolate and so I wanted to try and it anyhow and guess what??? I took a few bites (yes, it's good and all) but I wasn't able to finish my half of it and I didn't want the rest. So, maybe I am getting rid of my sweet tooth? Who knows, so, I have been doing well on the pouch test except that I ate this bar today.
You are doing great by the way!!!!!
Keep it up

Lorri,
I love the Oh Yeah bars too! My gym has them. (In fact, I love them so much that it's good that I can just buy one at a time every once in awhile--or I'd eat them like candy bars. When I buy one, I usually cut it into 1/3's and put the other 2/3 in the freezer so they're not right there looking at me.) You did OK having part of one, esp. since you didn't even eat the 1/2 that you planned! That's what it's all about--listening to how our body/pouch really feels! By all means, don't feel like you "cheated"--it's not like it was a Snickers!
We're doing great!!

Hi Jo.. I am not a ground beef person at all.. so I make ground turkey burgers and put greek seasoning, one egg, and some diced up red pepper and onion and crumbled feta and grill them.. top them with some grilled onions.. its yummy.. husband loves them.
I also would think you could make a breadless type of meatloaf using ground turkey or turkey meatballs. I also had turkey sausage and egg for breakfast last time.

Thanks, Melissa! I've used ground turkey also and like it! This does sound delicious--I am going to try this for sure in the next few days--I've got several things from this post that I'm going to use as regulars! (I will enjoy them on a slice of whole wheat bread or bottom of a bun after the 5dpt is over!) I actually think I have some Greek seasoning from a recipe I made--it's probably several yrs. old, but I'll use it anyway. I do like feta cheese, so will get that. This is making me hungry! I wi**** wasn't sleeting outside today; this sounds so good done outside on the grill.
I do love meatloaf. My normal recipe calls for 1/3 c. dry oatmeal, but for a whole batch, that's not much, and the rest of the ingredients are very acceptable. I make meatloaf every couple weeks, so I'm due again.
Turkey sausage--love it.
Thanks for helping! I can't believe the good ideas I've gotten and how I just drew a blank myself!
Always,
Jo
