Head hunger ?

OK, my pouch feels tight after eating my shrimp :)
But, I still feel like I'm hungry & want something in my mouth to chew & swallow.
Does this make any sense ? I'm confused about what head hunger really is I guess.
I feel like I want to wait a little while then try something else to satisfy me or am I craving something? Who knows...maybe a good 'o cigarette ! (only joking I quit)
Ugh
I know exactly what you mean - I've seen someone post about a book that tells you what your body really craves when you crave sweet, salty or other things. Sorry I don't remember the exact title - I need to locate it so I can see if the library has it - if I can figure it out it might help me get off the 15 pounds I've regained.
I absolutely know what you mean! I think "head hunger" can be different feelings at different times, but the main thing is that it's more of a FEELING, not true physical hunger. So when you say your pouch feels full--or "tight"--after eating the shrimp, I think you've satisfied your true hunger, but you just WANT something else!
This happens to me a lot, esp. this week while on the 5dpt, but other times too, even when I'm eating well (i.e., not junk). For me, it's not usually a specific craving for something (like choc. or salty or whatever); it's just usually a more generalized feeling. I know I'm not truly hungry; I've had all I really need. But I'm just having that "grazing" feeling--or just don't "feel" like I'm done eating!! I think this is from all the years of just eating like a pig, hungry or not. (I was very rarely really hungry cause I ate all the time.) But I also know that "normal" people have times like this too.
I try to remember to eat slower, more like I did early post-op. I've gotten to the point that I eat too fast (unless I'm eating something like steak or chicken, which I still have to be careful to chew slowly & well).
Just know that this head hunger beast is probably always gonna be gnawing at us.

Always,
Jo
I read something lately about dehydration. Most of the population is dehydrated and mistake hunger for thirst. I have been trying to drink more water or low carb drink (no carbonation) when I get this funny feeling. I know I need the hydration. This has been helping me with the evil grazing monster that chases me from time to time.

I highly suggest these two books for "head hunger" and understand the behavior behind why we are triggered and how we can reroute our thinking patterns.
Mindless Eating and The Beck Solution Diet.
Both deal with the mind.. awesome reads. I am still reading the Beck Solution Diet but so far I have learned so much!
