How to Look Good Naked

Has anyone seen this show on Lifetime?  It's awesome.  It shows women who have a low self esteem and low body image of themselves.  They learn how to appreciate and accept the body they have. It's so facinating to see these very emotional women who just hate themselves to tears at the beginning of the show...and by the end they are doing naked photo shoots (we see the satin sheet cover up version of the photos)  and loving themselves as they are!  (The host is the guy who did "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy") I've seen several women now ranging in all sizes and body shapes!  I think it comes on Friday nights...at 8 or 9 PM. on Lifetime. It's just fascinating! I love it. Anita

I wonder can they really like themselves after an hour or do they film this show in stages.  I would love it if it could happen in one hour.  I haven't really loved the new wringled body the way I should.  If I just accept it I would probabiliy feel better. Debbie

You really have to see the show to appreciate it. These women are far from perfect.  Lots have loose skin...big bellies...huge legs...back fat....flabby bat wings...Jiggly legs and fannies!  They range in weight by 100's of pounds! And their ages range too....20-30's, 40's.. 50's...The show is new...and he's not picking women that have any certain characteristic that just needs a little make up...Oh no!  These women are TOTALLY different.  I think even us WLS types who didn't have plastics can get something from this show.  I have had ZERO plastics...so trust me when I say...I relate to the wrinkles and the jello and the tapioca and the saggy and draggy and dippy and batty!  LOL  The idea is to realize the much of what we see...no one else does in exactly the same way we do.  Anita

We have this show over here too - a Brit version.  I love watching it.  They spend a number of weeks as far as I can tell with the women, so it's not an instant loving of themselves.  I particularly like the bit where they line up several women and they have to place themselves where they think they fit size wise.  They always see themselves as bigger than they are.

Yes I have seen this and the emotional part doesnt surprise me.  I mean losing all this weight was as big of an emotional journey for me as it was a fat losing journey! We really harbor deep feelings regarding how we look. Hugs

Even women who don't go thru WLS harbor such awful feelings about themselves.  And it is so sad to me. I'm happy to be healthy, and less likely for people to point and whisper "look at the size of her"...I wobbled and hobbled  So...now I jiggle and wiggle!  But at least I giggle!  :::hehehe:::and I don't draw negative attention to myself.  I think when I turned 40 and was at a good weight...I just didn't care that I'm not 19 and in the best shape of my life. At 19 I felt unhappy with my body and I was as fit as fit gets! (In the army)  But the self image we have is so different than what people see when they look at us!  So there is hope for all! :) Hugs

I watch in hopes to see someone with "post-op" issues.... FLABBY SKIN!   I'd love to see what he does to cover the arm flaps that keep waving after the hand stopped, those thighs that are still moving after the rest of the body came to a halt or that donut roll around your waist that moves for an extra 5 minutes after coming down the stairs!!

I know...I know!  Right!!!  I think he stuffs it all in very pretty granny panties!  LOL  One girl did have bat wings and he held out her arm and shook it!  She had some serious bat wings going on!  And he said "how often do you really walk around with your arms spread out like that? "  It's true!  We see it because we look for it! We examine ourselves so much more than the average person who just just meets us. They don't do an five point inspection...We do everytime we look in the mirror!  LOL  (I do!)   So, I'll never wear a bikini on the beach and I love to swim...and being scantilly clothed is not my idea of comfortable and beautiful...I just think we can use a little help in accepting ourselves a little more. I haven't scared any small children, sending them screaming for their moms...I walk around in cute sundresses and take it off to go in the water..In and out...no one notices..and if they do...I'll never see them again!  LOL I suggest we never try the hula hoop ever again...  LMAO!!! Can you imagine?  OMIGAWD!  What a visual! hugs

What about a sharpei in really gorgeous underware?  And satin sheets?  No?  Not doing it for you? (you're too hard on yourself!) I hate the loose skin too.  But I bet you can "feel beautiful" when you know that noone else cares about it. So many just have it removed...I'm not there yet...I was amazed how it took four years to tighten up...I didn't think my skin would tighten as well as it did... But it was not NOT quickly either. I might eventually have some plastics...I'm just so glad to not weigh so heavy...I think I hate the old stretch marks worse than the loose skin...and I HATE the loose skin under my chin!  It makes me insane!  I'm half tempted to duct tape the back of my neck to pull it tight!  LOL ::::Wondering if that would work:::(I'd have a hairless neck! ouchies) You look adorable in your little avatar!  Hugs
