I had my gastric bypass surgery in 2003, I haven't been to OH in over 4 years...my oh my.  After moving to a new town over a year ago, I have ZERO support avaialble to me in this new town so have since gained 12 pounds since moving here in 2006. I need support, and I knew where to come to get it.  I have MISSED this place!

You have come to the right place!  You will love the Grads board.  All of us here are so supportive of each other and can learn so much from others who have similar experiences and questions about long-term wls life!   You'll find every variety--those who are at goal and are successfully maintaining, those who never reached goal & are still trying, those who never reached goal but are OK with where they are, and those (like me) *****ached (or didn't reach) goal but are struggling with re-gained weight.  No matter what, someone understands! Hope to see you often! Jo

Always,
Jo

Hi, I too had my WLS in 2003 and I am not that far from you. There are alot of support groups here in the area..in fact there is a meeting Thursday the 21st Esther Grossman Center 4320 Sheridan Street Hollywood Florida 33021 They will have guest speakers this month about the bood work we should have and how to read the bloodwork results. Bring your last bloodwork with you. I hope you can make it. It does help to have others who are trying to break the old mold. We meet here every 3rd Thursday of the month. I also have a great Dr in Miami with a good support group. He has a nutritionist at his meetings. They are at Ceders Hosp. every 1st wed of the month. His name is Dr De La Cruz.... Hes a gem. He does welcome all who have had WLS not just his patients. I hope to see you Thursday night. Cha

I, too, was operated on in 2003. Lost initially 75 pounds, gained 20/25 back and playing with it ever since.  I haven't been to these boards (I belong to the BE boards), but like the idea of people who are further out like myself. The BE boards have turned into 'newbie' boards, and I have a problem reading about their new journey (pardon me for being a snob, I guess).  I just prefer hearing from people are far out as we are.

Good luck here.

Marilyn
