Hello there, Iam still having trouble getting down to my goal weight. I have lost 148lbs, and I would like to lose an extra 10. I basically eat whatever I want, I always have. I hardly drink water, and I am still trying to figure out where to get protein that isnt high in carbs or sugar or fat. (whichever is the most important) (Im clueless). I eat a bagel or toast for breakfast, with 2 cups of decaf coffee, for lunch I usually have a protein bar, then dinner I have whatever. Usually its baked chicken with veggies . Once in awhile I have noodles or pasta. At night I eat a whole bag of microwave popcorn ( I know its not good for me, but its my crutch). So, I basically only drink about 3 beverages in a day, I have no idea how much protein I get in, and Ive been extremely sleepy and have no energy. What the heck is going on...HELP!!!!!!!!

Hello Joanipedi,

Congratulations on losing such a tremendous amount of weight. I might suggest going to an online free web site such as Spark People.com or Fit day.com . You will be able to put in what you eat and get stats for your total protien, carbs, and fat plus calorie intake. That might help you see where you could do some adjustments to get that 10lbs off.

Since you are extremely sleepy and lack energy, have you been to see your wls surgeon recently and have lab work done? If not I would suggest doing so to check and  make sure you are not deficient in anything.

Let us know how you make out.

 Take care

Sher

You didn't mention what, if any, supplements you are taking.  I agree with Sher, get your labs done! You may also be eating too many white carbs which can decrease your energy and make you sleepy. Michele

Wow ! Congratulations. Like all of us we need to stick to the rules. I was eating whatever I wanted & gained. I know it can be hard but, get motivated & get back to the basics. By making these changes I'm sure you'll start to lose again. I agree...vitamins & no white carbs. I put bottled water in the freezer & add green tea packets (0 cal, no sugar) to it. Ice cold helps me. I wanted popcorn last night but, instead I ate yogurt & added bran cereal for the crunch. Or I even like Quaker Rice Cakes once in a while...they even have buttered popcorn flavor. Check out the 5daypouchtest.com even. And just think..ONLY 10 pds to lose ! You've done great ! Good luck

I've always had trouble getting in enough fluids too, especially since we can't drink when we eat (and I eat several times a day). I can tell a big difference in my weight when i don't drink enough, always seems to go up. I can also tell a difference in my skin and nails when i don't get enough. Anyway, it's really important, so just set some time aside every couple of hours to drink a bottle of water or something. I eat a lot of Ka****LC bars (140 calories each) and they help me, and I also make some homemade fiber bars out of Fiber One, bran flakes and Rice Krispies. I can send you the recipe if you want it (about 100 calories each, 6 gm. fiber and 2 gm. protein). I can also tell a difference if I'm eating too many white carbs - I do a whole lot better with wheat, with my weight and the way I feel. I like wheat pasta too, just boil it a little longer and I can't tell the difference. I bet if you manage to get in some more fluids, things will go better for you (but 148 pounds lost is a pretty good accomplishment already).

I just started making these a couple of weeks ago, and I love them. They're a lot like Rice Krispy treats, they're full of fiber and they don't give me that nauseated feeling I get from a Fiber One bar. They do tend to get hard after a few days, but I froze some and they did pretty well. I haven't used cherries in them - I've used raisins and Craisins and they were really good. http://www.bakespace.com/index.php?mode=listing&act=show&lst _id=28106

Hi Joani,  Welcome!  I use fitday every day and it helps me.  I am able to set goals and it helps me pay attention to what  need to do.  I also check in on the accountability thread. That way I HAVE to tell some one what I put in my mouth.  It helps me to think about what I am eating.  I have set my goals at about 1200 calories, 64 ounces water, 100 + protien, 80-100 carbs, below 60 fats and 10 -25 fiber (haven't figured out the fiber yet but I am working on it)  I also use the move to lose thread too,  Trying to build an excercise routine for myself.  I got back on thrack January 11th and I love being in control again.  OH is so helpful.  I hope you come often! Thanks for the advise. What do you eat to get that much protein in? I cant understand how people get that much protein.

There are lots of way to get all that protein in.....  1. Eat meat, fish, poultry. 2. Supplement with shakes, bars, hot coco, etc.  There are so many protein supplements available or you can buy the unflavored and add it to your food (no taste). 3. Snack on nuts or low-fat, low carb dairy products. 4. Eat legumes and beans. 5. Drink protein water (several brand available - even Special K has one now). These are just a few ways I get in my protein for the day. Good Luck  Sharon
