check my edited post before you get hooked on these girl!! there is almost 400 calories in a bar, granted you probably wont be able to eat a whole one, but thats a lot of cals!  Great synopsis of what protein bars taste like!! lol  i think most of them have that general base of a cookie type bar, but the whey makes it taste that way.. I taste it in the oh yeah bars, but not as bad maybe because of the chocolate and tons of peanuts?  good luck on your search :)

I have to admit I did try Oh Yeah and wasn't overly impressed. But I've finally found my crack addiction bar!  It's the Balance Bar!  There are several flavors, but basically 2 types.  The 100 calorie bar is .98oz and has 6g protein, 5g sugars.  The Gold bar is 1.76 oz, 210 calories, 13g protein, 16g sugar.  While the 16g seems high, it does say it's low glycemic and I don't get my normal sugar reaction from it. But bottom line, they're the first ones I've tried that I really like! Michele

those are great bars, I use to LOVE their trail mix cinnamon and oats bar with the sweet layer at the bottom mmmmm!  I stopped eating them because I'm trying to eat healthy and avoid aspartame, high fructose corn syrup, sugars, hydroginized and enriched foods.. theres HFCS in the bar (which kinda floors me since its suppose to be a good alternative for people on the go.. heres the ingredients on a balance gold bar Protein Blend (Soy Protein Isolate|Whey Protein Isolate|Casein|Calcium Caseinate)|Corn Syrup|Sugar|Soy Crispies (see product detail for contents)|Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil|High Fructose Corn Syrup|Nonfat milk|Glycerin|Maltitol|Chocolate|Contains less than 2% of Natural Flavor|Ground Almonds|Cookies (see product detail for contents)|Cocoa (processed With Alkali)|Fructose|High Maltose Corn Syrup|Water|Pectin|Lemon Juice Concentrate|Canola Oil|Soy Lecithin|Soybean Oil|Salt|Monoglycerides|Fractionated Vegetable Oil (Palm and Palm Kernel Oils)|Beta-carotene|Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C)|Calcium Carbonate|Ferric Orthophosphate (iron)|Vitamin E Acetate|Phytonadione (vitamin K1)|Thiamin Mononitrate|Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)|Niacinamide|Vitamin B6|Folic Acid|Vitamin B12|Biotin|Calcium Pantothenate|Potassium Iodide|Magnesium Oxide|Zinc Oxide|Sodium Selenite|Copper Gluconate|Manganese Sulfate|Chromium Chloride|Sodium Molybdate

I loved those bars, but they make me crash (reactive hypoglycemia) and no matter what I do, for the rest of the day (and sometimes the next) I can't get my blood sugar under control :(

you're right about that!! those little thin mints are EVIL!! lol  I've been trying to dodge girl scouters everywhere (the stores, post office, knocking at my door) lol  i swear you can start with the intention of having 2 but then you look down and half the plastic sleeve is gone!  SO happy I'd dump on sugar, I'm avoiding them like the plague! lol have a great day!

Thanks for the info on the Oh Yeah bars. I was going to try one until I read they were 360-400 calories. No thanks... that's one of the big problems I find with a lot of protein bars. Either they have too many calories or too much sugar. I try to keep my protein bars to 200 or fewer calories and at least 10g of protein; otherwise, it's not worth the calories. The ones I do the best with are Pure Protein bars which I get in WalMart. They meet my criteria, are very filling and taste darn good. My surgeon recommends we stay at 1000 calories a day and if a bar is over 200 of those precious calories, it's just not worth it!
