Don't take someone else's leftover antibiotics - that's never a good idea.  Not to mention the fact that you should ALWAYS finish any course of prescribed antibiotics (tsk, tsk. on the DH - hopefully whatever he had did not/does not recur!).  You'd be better off to go see your PCP, get an evaluation of your specific condition, and get a prescription especially for you.   Hope you are feeling better soon -  Kellie

I was tempted to take some of my daughters amoxillian (for her ear infection) the other day for a persistant scratchy throat with no other symtoms.. But decided against it...It's bad enough I had to take some powder aspirin. (I know bad for my pouch)  But my arthritic knee was just aching from the rain. I often wonder if the reason for not taking nsaids is because in pill form it sits in your stomach and can cause an ulcer because there it just sits there with barely enough acids to break it down and can seep into the old stomach. (Mine is detached)...I figured washing powders down would rinse it out of the pouch and go straight down into the intestines...I dunno... It never bothers me...and I only do that when the pain is bad. I tried looking up doctor reports and cases but I can never find anything about anti-imflamatories except that they are bad in pill form...The problem with that is because they cannot get a scope into the old stomach and repair or give meds to heal it...and so the problem can be quite hard to fix.   You are just like me...I avoid the doctor if I can too!  LOL But an infection is nothing to play with...and "green" is an infection.  Ahhh go get it over with....LOL   Feel better! Oh yeah...Valentines Day!  I fergot!   I better get on the ball and go get a card at least. Maybe I'll go out to Applebees tonight!  Haven't been there in ages!  I better go check the menu on line and decide now what I'm gonna eat so I don't end up with something I'll regret on the scale in the morning! LOL My daughter and her friends just made Hot Pockets....My whole house smells like food ..and I am so glad they smell better than they taste...but now my belly is rumbling and sipping on water is just not cutting it!  LOL   I would rather go to the dentist..than the doctors..and in fact I faithfully go every 6 months to my dentist...and have to be dragged to the doctors...I don't get me sometimes...okay most of the time. Happy V D...wait...LOL no no no...Happy Valentine's DAY!  No VD, you'd get some good antibiotics though...  LOL  :::wink::: Hugs! Anita

Yea VD not a great Valentines Present FO SHIZZLE! I ordered a heart shaped pizza for dinner tonight with a sneezer salad. Just had chow mein...  yuuuummmmmmm I think maybe the reason I have been feeling so crappy is perhaps the onset of this cold chest thing! Im soooooooooooooo cold!   As soon as kids get home Im in a hot tubby! Applebees has this pick three thingy on the menu and the baby bacon cheese burgers are so yum, I just take off the top bun.. lol and eat the bottom... SO you keep the VD and Ill just take the Valentine wishes !!!!!!!!!! Hugs

My Dear BF, You know better than to take someone else's drugs.  I do believe with the "icky" green stuff, you should get yourself off to the GP this morning.  That could very well be pneumonia or on its' way to being that which would mean complete bed rest and possible hospitlization. We know that would drive you absolutely "bonkers" if you had to stop everything for 36-48 hours. Promise me that you will skip our coffee date and go see your doctor instead.  We can always do coffee.................I can't always find a friend like you. Love - Always, Granny Eileen

Don't use them.  Their are diffrent Anitibiotics for diffrent things.  It also depends how old they are.  Most medications that are old have an adverse effect.  I would check with your PCP or your surgeon.

One should never take another persons prescription medications, antibiotics or anything else.

Different antibiotics are used to fight different bacterial infections, different dosages might be ordered by weight or age.

It is important for someone taking antibiotics to complete taking the whole prescription.

To completely get that bacterial infection out of their system. Even if you are feeling better you need to finish all those pills.

You should see a doctor and not self prescribe antibiotics for your self. Your health and well being are more important than your fear or dislike of doctors.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I am a RN with decades or experience.

 ps.

Be sure to check on that DH of your's the next time he is on antibiotics to be sure he finishes all his medication.

Hope you feel better soon.
