I had my rny in May '06, I ve lost 150lbs and seem to be pretty steady. My problem is that Iam always so tired. I sleep about 10 hours a night, and then I am still so tired during the day that I just fall asleep. This is new for me. I never had this problem before. Does anyone know what it might be? Thanks for any help.

Hey Joan, First, are you being religious about taking all your vitamins and getting in adequate protein?  If yes, I know for myself, my tiredness was tied to inadequate iron...Oh my docs blood tests always came back OK if a little on the low acceptable range, but what I found is by changing the time of day I take my iron it really made a difference...Now I take VitronC right before bedtime each night, now I no longer struggle with being tired so much...I'm no doctor, but it worked for me...Good Luck, know what its like to feel that no energy drag by 8pm and the urge to take a nap every afternoon... Thanks for all the help.  I haven't taken my B12 vitamins in about a month out of pure forgetfulness, I go to the doctor this friday for lab work to make sure nothing else could be going on. Thanks again. Joanie [

First thought - iron deficiency Second thought - B12 deficiency Third thought - some other vitamin/mineral deficiency What did your numbers look like on your last bloodwork?  How long ago was it?  Maybe it's time to check again and see what's going on with your labs.  That's where the answer is. I second Angie's reply........sounds like vitamin deficiency probably....call for labs if you haven't had them lately....if you have then request copies to see your levels, in fact request all copies and track them  yourself, you'll see downward trends you can stop before your doc will even become concerned probably.  They (most) seem to wait until below ranges to become concerned, you are your best advocate for monitoring and staying on top of your health.

I have to agree with the other ladies. I'd call right away and have some labs run. Good LUck and keep us posted on what they say.

I had that same problem - found out my thyroid was hard as a rock and not working right. We upped my Armour Thyroid to 120 mg twice a day and I'm doing much better. Also, at first when I was dragging, drinking gatorade helped - I mix it 1/3 gatorade and 2/3 water. It has electrolites in it like potassium that might need a kick in the butt! Hope this helps - get some labs done - but remember TSH doesn't mean much. You need to get the Free T3 and Free T4 done to see if they are low or if one is high and one is low. Get your potassium and iron checked - along with your Vit. B12. Good luck! Diona

I agree with everyone I am anemic and my thyroid is all jacked up. Also water water water is a must. The more I drink the better I feel. Depression is also one of those things that can make you feel that way. Chronic fatigue syndrome too..... go to the doc, get the labs and go from there......... good luck tammy
