I am just curious...the further out you get, do you think it helps to weigh yourself often in order to 'stay on top' of your weight? Although I have done OK, I still fear regain and I guess I always will. I weigh myself daily. What do you think? Just a random thought bouncing around my head...

I used to think I didn't want to be a slave of the scale... but guess what?  That's how I got so big before surgery and that's how I gained 30 pounds after it... 'cause I barely ever checked myself! :-)  So... I believe we need to weigh ourselves to know where we stand and make adjustments if need be... I do it weekly... Personally, I think daily doesn't really help much, because body weight fluctuates daily... for example... one day you may poopy before you weigh yourself, and the next you may not... tee hee... seriously, though... I think weekly is best... but that's just my unedumacated opinion ;-) Angie

I weigh myself once......maybe twice a week at the most.  If I did it daily I would go crazy.  If I didn't change from one day to the next.  Or if I went up half a pound etc. it would stress me out even though that kinda change can be normal.  Daily weighing just isn't a good idea for me.

I think it depends on whether you are addicted to them or not.  If you can go a period of time (hour/day/week, et.) without feeling the compulsive need to get on them, then weighing daily can be fine and a helpful tool, (or any other set period of time).  BUT if there is a compulsive NEED to get on them, then I suggest they are put away until the addiction is broken, and that a suitable alternative measurement of achievement found. This is my take on it ~ do I follow it?  Most of the time, but not all!!

I weigh myself everyday first thing in the morning.  It helps me to know how I need to adjust my intake for the day, and it lets me catch trends before they get out of hand.  I can deal with 2 or 3 pounds, but 7 or 10 starts getting depressing and scary and brings back some of the behaviors that made me fat in the first place.  That's just me.

This is what I do and I don't recommend it at all but, it's what I do. I weigh every morning right when I get up. I also weigh every night before I go to bed. Both times naked. In the morning it tends to keep me on track for the day and in the evening, it's just pure curiousity. I usually lose about 2 pounds at night.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hey! I only weigh myself once in the afternoon before lunch. It seems to be my best weight for whatever reason. I sometimes wake up swollen from very salty foods but once i am up and about I lose the water and it shows on the scale.  I weigh myself whenever I get the urge. But daily makes me doubt myself because I do fluctuate so much from day to day ...Yet a weekly reading seems to be more practical. I notice if I don't have a protein drink for a day...and/or don't get in my water and eat less...I weigh heavy in the morning!  Go figure???? Then I freak out thinking I did something wrong and it just might be a little water retention. (probably from not drinking enough mixed with eating salty foods) I personally only weigh myself when I feel like I am losing or gaining or once or twice a week to keep an eye on things. I weigh with whatever I have on and then I can subtract a lb or two! LOL Hey, whatever it takes to lose a few lbs!!  LOL Hugs, Anita

Generally, I do weigh myself every morning and Yes, I do think it has helped me to stay on top of things. If I see the scale go up a few pounds then I really watch for a few days. I also track my weight on the calendar so I can visually see the naturally ups and downs during the month~right before I start I always go up 3lbs! Hate it, but I know in a few days it will be gone again all on its own. I say to each his/her own~what works for some doesn't work for others. If you find daily weighing a useful thing for you to do, then stick with it!

I too weigh myself each morning . I hardly ever weighed myself before wls and I know that is one of the reasons my weight got out of control.
