transitioning to maintenance...
I'm not officially a WLS Grad because I'm only 8 months out, but I was a lightweight to start and I am essentially at goal already. I'm trying to transition to maintenance eating... I figured this might be the place to get some tips...
Any words of wisdom to stop this train and maintain?
My plan of action so far is to increase my calories by 100-200 a day and a slight increase in carbs - see how that goes and play it by ear, and step-up my weight training to be sure and build muscle mass. Any thoughts, tips, suggestions???
Thanks,
Bekah

Bekah, it's gonna take some playing around with your intake to stop or slow the loss.......at 8 months out you will more than likely lose some more but the loss should slow down significantly.
I think you are on the right track with adding calories and good carbs.
Congratulations on your success, you've done well.

I'll be 3 years out in a couple of weeks and I'm still super restricted in intake......the only way to add enough calories and protein for me is shakes, usually 2 per day with soy milk. It's important to find your niche, just be careful to not get yourself in the situation of eating often and learning bad habits, that can be hard to break.

Easiest way to add some calories is to add a protein shake a day. This will also support your weight training. Until you can physically eat more, this might help. If I was you, I wouldn't worry too much about slowing weight loss. Your body will stop on its own as you are able to eat more and are further out.
Hi Bekah! Congrats on your success!!
I agree with everyone else. Don't worry to much about forcing yourself to stop the weightloss b/c it will happen all on its own. Eating a few more calories daily will help. Eventually you will be able to handle much more food than you can right now, so its a natural process at that point. Good Luck and continued success to you!!!!!!!!!

Bekah,
You're so cute! I think this is the first "help me stop losing" post I've seen...(I'm kinda new here even though I am definately a grad) My first impression was "SHUT UP!!!!" LOL(I'm teasing) I can't imagine how scary it would have been if I felt I needed to stop and was still losing! I just never got that far! That weight loss train just kinda sputtered out and died and left me basically where I am for three years...But wow! I guess there are some who would have to ...like you. Even while I was losing, it never dawned on me that it wouldn't stop...My worry has always been that it would stop too soon...and then I'd gain..
I can't imagine trying to eat more than you should. Somehow that seems more scary to me (Being 4 years out)...but at the same time adding a protein drink sounds like what I might try before anything else...More calories, and protein without stretching. What does your surgeon say? Let us know...I'm really curious about this. It's funny though...I added a protein drink to help me lose weight and I have...But I also stopped bad eating habits along with that...So now I am really curious how you do...
You look lovely...
