Those premade cordon Bleu are carzy with calories.. I make my own to keep the cals down.. seems to be that way with most of those quick fix type meals.  You still need to up tha****er to flush out this food you are eating.  it will make all the difference in the world.  I see you did better today.  keep it going now. I know the fat looks wacky.  It's because the Atkins Protein Shakes (which were the only ones I could stomach during my first year) have 80 calories of fat!  I didn't realize this until recently.  Yep, 80/160 calories in soybean oil fat!  I'm going out to see if I can find a new protein drink that doesn't make me want to retch now!  I had carbs on Wednesday and went crazy.  I'm a total carb addict and just cannot have starchy carbs or my hunger goes berserk and I can't control my cravings for sugar and starches.  5 days later I was up 4 pounds this morning and freaked, which is why you see the very high protein and very low carbs.  I am really having a hard time with this.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.  I get tired of salads all the time, but any bread or starch, sets me on a maddening spiral.  Even foods that at first seem okay, seem to become red light foods.  Then the hypoglycemia starts.  Eeech!

Hold the phone.  it is not 80 grams of fat.. thats the calories from fat.  the grams from fat are 9.  check it out.  You need to adjust it.  There is no way a shake would have taht many grams of fat in it.  with that said, if it's what you can stomach than that is a good choice for you.   I have many foods that are considered ok but my tummy doesnt like.  It's odd how some people can eat anything and others have so a picky pouch.  Having issues with Hypoglycemia is not fun.  It means you gotta get a fe more carbs than the normal wls person to keep from bottoming out.  you should be eating at least 5 times a day.  mostly protein but you need to add just a bit of carbs in with it to keep you from bottoming out.  Have you tried to toast bread.  thats the only way I can get it down myself.  Try a protein bar.  they have tall the protein and carbs you would need.  I like the pure portein bars (deluxe chocolate),  You just gotta play with it a bit.  good carbs like apples and bananas with a spoon of peanut butter can be excellent choices or protein balls.  they have a nice mix of both protein and carbs.   Play with it a bit and find what works for you.  Hope that helps. You are doing a great job.. keep up the good work. Carla

Thanks for the reply!  I realized it's not grams, but the shake still has half of its calories from fat.  That's a lot higher than other protein shakes out there.  Since it's been a couple of years since I tried any other protein drink, I think I'll see if anything has changed.  As for the hypoglycemia, it's unfortunately not that easy for me.  Carbs set it off.  I can't have any starchy carbs or my blood sugar plummets a little while later.  This is a complication from GB surgery that is being documented more and more as there are a growing number of us post ops out here with several years under our belt.  When I get hypoglycemic I actually have to eat protein.  If I eat carbs, i may rebound a little while and then get even worse!  Plus, I get hungry round the clock.  I do well on nuts, fruits, and veggies, but I have to watch the Glycemic Load of everything I eat.  Bananas, are a little too high for me to have very often.  I may give the Pure Protein bars a try.  I've been trying to find something to calm my sweet tooth without setting me on a sugar dive.  Thanks for the words of encouragement.  The support from this board has really kept me afloat through this "glitch!"

Today was a great day!  I actually counted my laps and I walked 4.5 miles in an hour!  I was cruisin!  Food intak ewas good,  could have eaten a little less carbs and fat, but I needed the calories.  I am tired and I think I am going to check the boards and get to bed.  Good night all!

CARLA-Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm off work today and am actually a little lost..lol..maybe I should "pack a bag" for THESE days too!! Actually. I do have it written out-on paper, but it's still harder, being off my rigid schedule, but it's nice to kick back a little too, and SIP that shake-actually getting to take the time to TASTE it! Thanks for taking the time to help us out-you're awesome-so glad my bud, DANA, led me here
