Go back to the begining???
Hi. Im wondering from those of you that are further out 2+ years if you have come across this same scenario.
I am very very proud to say I am 3+ years post op, have lost over 200 lbs and not gained anything more than 10lbs of it back. Becaue of my starting weight I have approx 20 more pounds to lose before I am not longer classified as Obese. That really ticks me off considering what I used to weigh, the amount of weight I lost and the two plastic surgeries I have had. My question is this- In trying to lose these 20 lbs I have become very frustrated! Should I go back to the "beginning" of post-op and eat what I did after surgery? Honestly I do not know how much protein I am getting daily. I recently had a physical and except for a low Vitamin D level everything is fine.
Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!!

Im not sure what causes the Vitamin D level to be low other than the malabsorption we have post-op. The surgeon's office put me on 2000 IU a day of Vitamin D which has really helped with my energy level. I hardly had any energy, was tired all the time, getting sick all the time. Im not tired all the time anymore and once winter is done and I can get back outside and active again I will have the energy to do so. How are you doing?
Thanks for your reply,From day one I hate exercise and my weight has been so slow,.I don't have the energy to do to much,I push myself.I am 65 years old and I truly need a miracle.I have not been sick,he wants me to take calcium citrate 600mg.vitamin D 400 tablets twice dailey and consult my pcp/metabolic doctor for further treament.I was already taking this,2 in the am and 2 in the pm,so I really dont' know what is going on.Have to find out, maybe that is why my weight is slow.(excuse)I have always had good bloodwork.

First, keep in mind that many many of us will never get to our desired weight, and sometimes that is due to pockets of fat that diet and exercise won't touch and excess skin, so I just enocourage you to be realistic and consider all the reasons you are not at the desired weight.
I also don't think going back to the beginning is desirable or heatlhy--just my opinion. For general good health, you need a really nutritious eating plan and exercise to complement it--muscle does burn more calories/fat.
If you haven't read my posts this week, I am doing a detox diet, and it may have some interesting things for you to think about. I've done them for a week at a time in the past, but this time I'm going for 28 days. Since I'm only into day 4, I have no idea what the overall impact will be, but I too would like to lose what I've regained and a little more!
Just something to think about.

Im over two years out, and I did the 5 day pouch test to get back on track. It reset my pouch sensitivity, cut all cravings, jump started the loss and I regained my sensitivity to sweets. i dump again, finally. You might try that.

Chele,
I'm still overweight myself and there was a time when weighing in the 160's would have meant I was enormous ( to myself) But I am sooooo happy to be in the 160's because I FEEL good. I can imagine how hard you have worked to lose 200 lbs! That is just :::Singing:::::AWESOME!!!!!
A number is just a number...It means nothing. How you feel is what matters...and your health of course. I think you have done an amazing job! Absolutely amazing! 200 LBS! That is almost two freaking peeps! (little ones) but 2!
I bet you look amazing...and I wanted to tell you that no matter what ... 200lbs OMIGOD!! I wish you much success in losing your extra 20...you are my hero!
