I certainly can relate.  I have been feeling like a failure as well which only led me to eat more.   I feel hungry all the time!  I am starting the 5 day tomorrow.  I have Special K protein drinks in fridge.  They are not too bad.  I also like to go to GNC and get their blue protein drinks.  It is not a thick drink but each bottle has 40 grams of protein.  Now if I can make it thru by fighting this hunger thing, I will be very pleased.  I would be pleased to continue this support with you.  I think we could really help the other one out.

I want to start the 5dpt tomorrow but I'm a little confused about what we can/ can't have. I guess I'm one of those all or nothing people (wonder how I got so fat ) and I need some clarity. The first 2 days says clear liquids only but you can have cream soups? And the recipes for soups have cheese and veggies and stuff in them? How does that work?  Also day 4 and 5 lists only proteins but again the recipes have other ingredients. How strict do I need to be? Can I put some light mayo in my tuna? Can I eat marinated and flavored poultry? Sorry, I'm being really anal about this but I am the kinda girl that needs things really simply laid out. Sounds like many of you have had success with this so I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm going to a wedding in 14 days and I really want to drop some weight and start feeling better. Help please!  THanks guys! Alli

I've done the 5 DPT twice, first 2 days can be hard, but stick with it - you'll be SO thankful and feel back on track when you are on day 6!  I was VERY strict - day 1 and 2 - only broth, and protein shakes made w/ skim milk.  Day 3 and 4 - soft chicken, soft eggs, soft low fat cheese.  Day 5 - all protein -  You have to psych yourself for this - have the blender out and ready and be ready to be successful!   Don't tempt yourself and go to places with food.  Good Luck - you'll be back on track and very happy with the success!

THanks for your message, Susan. You said you had soft low fat cheese on day 3 and 4. Do you mean cottage cheese or can we do string cheese too? I'm afraid that if I don't get some things I like in the mix, I won't stick to it. And I really like string cheese. I have a hard time with protein shakes. I've tried so many and I just think ICK with all of them. Do they need to say low carb? Any recommendations? THANK YOU AGAIN SOOOOOOO MUCH!

I hate cottage cheese - so that was never an option for me - any low fat cheese is OK.  So yes, the string cheese is fine (to me anyway) - I bought protein shake powder in a vitamin shop - and add a teasp. of instant decaf coffee - I pack them w/ ice for the go - shake them well - I've learned to actually like them.  I think mine said high protein w/ whey.  Don't remember the brand, ask the counter people for highest protein.  I aslo have a slim fast if I need it, only drank one once.  Drink both chicken and beef broth - when warm it is a comfort.   I'm going to start on the Monday after Easter... getting ready!   Good Luck.

I'm freaking out a bit here! I just started day 3. I gained 8 oz between day 1 and 2. How is that possible???!! I weighed myself again this morning and I'm down 6 oz but I'm still heavier than when I started. It is my lady time of the month so maybe that has something to do with it? I find this program confusing. How can cream soups and those soup recipes be considered liquid? I ate cream soups but didn't make the recipes. Didn't really feel like liquids. Also, day 3 is soft protein but the omelette recipe has turkey bacon in it. I guess I wish things were a little clearer because I'm finding this confusing.  If I don't lose weight from this or feel like my pouch is tighter I will lose my mind! Any suggesions PLEASE! THanks for dealing with my hystrionics... Allison

I started this 5dpt yesterday, today was day 2. i did liquids (cream soup, coffee, tea, water w/crystal light, sf pudding ****ach day, jello, the only thing I had on both days that weren't on list was 2 string cheeses each day. I needed that little bit of protein because I was just way way too hungry and was starting to get a headache on the 2nd day. tomorrow is day 3 and i go to tuna, egg, salmon and since we can eat this all day as long as we stick to the amounts required each time, I should be okay now. the all liquids were just the scarey part.

CHECK THE LABELS ON YOUR SOUP AND PROTEIN SHAKES. MOST CANNED SOUPS HAVE TOO MANY CARBS. YOU WANT LOW CARBS(LOWER THAN10) WITH PROTEIN AND PROTEIN SHAKES -PURE PROTEIN SHAKE HAS 35GR PROTEIN  AND 2-04 GRAMS OF CARBS -YOU GET THEM AT VITAMIN SHOPP.. ENJURY PROTEIN SHAKE MIX- YOU ORDER ON LINE.   OH YEAH SHAKES ARE GOOD  AT VITAMIN SHOPPE.  SLIM FAST -LOW CARB AT DRUG STORE. ALL THE REST OF SLIM FAST HAS TOO MANY CARBS. READ THE LABELS. VERY IMPORTANT.  TRY BEEF AND CHICKEN BROTH. GOOD -LUCK ON THE 5-DAY POUCH TEST.  LIBBY

I started the 5 day pouch test this past Monday, I’m on day 3 and I’m amazed at how full I feel after eating ONE hardboiled egg and a piece of string cheese……..I will be 3 years out on May 31st this year and have maintained my weight loss rather well, I’m 5’7 started at 265 and am now at 153. I was at one point around 145 and that is where I was really happy…….I know my eating habits were totally out of control. I could eat an English muffin WITH cheese on it for breakfast washed down with a cup of coffee……and really, we all know that is far too much for one sitting, or at least it should be. And I would look to be munching all day, and then eat lunch and then munch again and every time I did it was on carbs! Pure carbs! I have no cravings today……..the first 2 days I would have given my left arm for a cracker but today I feel as though it is getting better, I have not lost any weight in the past 2 days but that was not my initial goal. My goal was to reconnect with my pouch and I think its working!!!! If you are doing this DON’T GIVE UP! Even if you don’t follow it to a T you are doing yourself justice by at least trying! =)

I'm on day one. I don't know where it's going but I'm hoping it will get rid of my milk cravings.

It's interesting to see how much of my WLS training I forgot. I got so caught up in the stress of my daily life that I wasn't even having a protein shake every day like I was supposed to. Just the vitamin supplementation.
