5 day pouch test
I'm probably not considered a WLS graduate yet because I'm only 13 1/2 months post-op. :) But a friend was telling me about this and I think it might really help me to get back on track. I've been pretty good about maintaining my weight, but I know I'm eating more than I should (at least at scheduled times) and I want to get it under control. Carbs and sweets ARE my weakness.
Consultation weight was 321, surgery day weight was 284, I've been fluctuating between 160-157 for the past few months, and trying to meet my doctor's goal of 155 (he's happy where I'm at however) and my goal of 150 (or even 145).
I will either start this weekend or Monday since I can't go shopping before payday. Any advice? How much protein are we looking at having on day 1, how much liquid a day? Does that include the water in-take? I've looked at that website, but I can't afford that lady's book right now, LOL.
Thanks! :)
Carin
Just by doing this test, I'm full faster, and eating my protein again first. I plan to use this test every couple months just to help me stay on track. Since Mid August, I have lost 31lb**** under 200 and am still losing. This is all from a regain so I'm working towards my goal 150, 2nd time around.
I never thought i would be posting this but here goes. I have and am still successful after my gastric bypass surgeyr 10/2/2006
start weight was 333 lbs and I am now 252 lb
I am really down on not losing more but please read my cir****tances and then I am hoping for some guidance
I figure it's those who dont reach out that get in trouble and fast
11-11-08 my son suffered a severe brain injury from a misdiagnosed and untreated sinus infection. I have spent the past 2 years literally in a hospital by his bedside on 2-23-09 my daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Logan he was such a ray of sunshone during our dark days-my son remained in a coma and 8 mos later we got a call that my garndson was not breathing at daycare- LOgan died during his morning nap while at daycare from SIDS- I have been an emotional wreck I have tried to be strong for both my children and help everything in. Food was not an issue then I could barely eat let alone stand. I had to still be there for my son who was fighting for his life.
My grandson oassed 9-26-09 and now by the grace of God my son is back into the commuity after being told he olny had a 2 % chance of ever waking
I find now that he is in the community ( adult foster setting) i am eating badly uncontrollably I have cravings i have never had since the surgery
I know its nerves and I am being hit hard with post traunatic stress
I am looking for guidance to please help me gain back control- I dont have alot of money I lost my job due to being by my son's bedside
Can anyone please help me with this thing i hear about a 5 day pouch test- does it work
Any advice would be greatly appreciated Im so scared i dont want to gain any weight back I need me time bad and want to feel better

Sorry to hear of your loss. Am glad to hear that your son is doing better. I think the first step for all of us who have adopted bad habits rather intenionally or by stress is admitting it to our self. I was banded on 09/16/09 and have lost 72 lbs. Have adopted a habit of eating carbs and sugar. I looked back to when I did keep a journal and realized my diet consisted of protein drinks for breaksfast and lunch along with chips of some sort, so for me my entire weight loss has been junk food. The only thing that I noticed is that I did work out and burned off the chips I consumed and that was because I had a hard time getting down meats. Not that my band was tight, infact i had to switch Dr. a couple of times cause I could not find one the would give me a decent fill, 5/10 of a cc is a joke at 40.00 co-pay leaving the way I came in. So I truely understand your situation. Since i too lost my job. Lately I think most of my gazing is from the fact that I am bored. I have since then been on several interviews 8 to be exact and they all give me great reviews but no hire. Go figure .......So I spent all day on this site and I ran upon the 5day pouch test and as I read all the blogs I realize I need this. I hop you will join me on this test as we can do it together. Hold your head up tomorrow will be a brighter day. We can do all things thur god which strenghtens us. Not sure why we go though the stressors we endure but you sound like you are stronger for it. Good luck
I know its been a while since the first and last post to this thread, but I have some good words to add about the 5 Day Pouch Test. So I an 7 years post op, and I am gaining some weight back, actually I have been slowly gaining for about a year now. But I came across the 5 Day Pouch Test and have done it several times. It is the best way to get your pouch back in check and shrink it. It takes the carb cravings away and helps to loose a couple of pounds, you can say it jump starts you into wanting to control your pouch and eating. There is an actual website for it, www. livingafterwls.com and it had all the info you need about the 5 day, also recipes and so on. I for one, cannot do just broth. I make the low carb pumpkin sausage soup, it is so good :)~ On the first two days, you can have as much soup, protein and water you want on top of sugar free jello, and sugar free puddings...but you can look all that up on the website. The stop drinking 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after and 15 minutes only to eat, is on day 2 , 3, 4 and 5. Well, I hope this helped a little. I swear by the 5 Day Pouch Test. Im on day 2 and down 3 pounds. :) If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me.
Good Luck
