New Kid on the Block

I thought I would officially introduce myself! I had RNY WLS on May 8, 2006 with a starting weight of 260. I reached my goal weight of 130 pounds on July 23, 2007. To say that I am incredibly grateful for this tool would be an understatement! I am finding that living on "this side" of the scale is very challenging. I have never reached a weight loss goal in my life and don't know how to living in a body that I like and am comfortable with. I have found that connecting with others through my hospital support group and now on the OH boards is really important in keeping me honest and accountable. I have posted some pictures on my profile, so you get a sense of who the girl behind the avatar is. I am looking forward to getting to know other members of this board. Thanks!

Mary, I think  you're gonna love it  here on the grads board!  Everyone is facing the similar issues--some have not reached goal, some reached goal and have re-gained, and some are doing very well maintaining their goal!  Congrats on getting to your goal!  Like you said, so many of us never reached a good weight pre-wls, so now it's all about figuring out how to live with our success.   I enjoyed your profile photos!   Hope you're here often! Jo

Always,
Jo

Hi Mary! Congrats on the reaching your goal!  I'm 9 days new to the boards even though I've been a member for years!  LOL I have no idea how I even became a member, I think my surgeon gave me the website in case I had questions. Who knew that 4 years later, I'd find myself asking questions??? I'm so glad I found this place...again, because I learned things I didn't know! You and I are practically neighbors! WOW! Well, welcome and your pictures are great...I feel like a big flirt or a big ole weirdo.... always telling people how beautiful they are, but damn...everyone is gorgeous!  You included.  I just cannot get over how great people look.  My kids tell me I was pretty before my surgery...and I think "you buncha mama's boy and girl"...but I see so many people who are heavy and just lovely. You were cute before and you ain't my mama...LOL  Don't mind me...I am always a little on the eclectic side for certain.  I told my daughter (19) that I posted a poop story and she laughed and said "mom, you're always such a party"...What does that mean?  LOL I'm just a big clown I guess. Hi Mary and welcome, the grad board is a great place for us.....as we find ourselves dealing with possible regain, not reaching our personal goal (which may or may not be reasonable, it's still something we "want"), to dealing with life including vitamin deficiencies, emotions and such. I firmly believe that each of us MUST maintain a support group that has been there, done that and understands.  The average person that has not dealt with MO doesn't quiet get it. Again welcome to the grads board, you'll love it here!
