Trying to get away from some bad habits.  Can you ladies and gents give me your thoughts on good tasting protein bars?  I can eat anything,  but am really trying to gain control after loosing control for awhile.  I eat pretty well, but sometimes I am too busy to eat a real meal or I might just want something different but not a candy bar.  I bought the South Beach peanut butter chocolate bars today and they weren't too bad.  180 calories, 21 carbs and 15 protein.  I would love the feed back.  Thanks

Dana, I use Adkins Advantage Almond Brownie Bar.  It's 20 proteins, 0 sugar 0 sugar alcohol, 22 carb, 7 fiber, 9 fat and 220 calories.  One bar really fills me up.  It's also great when I'm wanting something sweet. Hope this helps! Donna

I use Supreme bars or basically half a bar. This is a very large bar, so half is plenty. Tastes like $100,000 Bar.
A whole bar is 30g protein, 6g carbs, about 300 cal.

Rockin' Roll is a PayDay, basically and smaller, so a whole bar about 20g protein, 2g carbs, and appx 200 cal.

I use them INSTEAD of a meal, not in addition to a meal

My favorites are: Nitrotech bars (peanut butter or peanut butter/choc chip) - 280 cal, 30 gm protein, 30 gm carb, 1 gm sugar, 4 gm fiber CarbRite Diet (choc peanut butter or choc mint) - 190 cal, 21 gm protein, 22 gm carb, 0 gm sugar Elev8Me! Bars (any variety) - 230 cal, 18 gm protein, 34 gm carb (all from fruit-not fruit juices), 4 gm fiber The Elev8Me! bars are made by a small company in Canada and are whey protein and fruit (sometimes nuts, too).  They are not like candy bars--there's no choc-like coating.  They come in 3 pieces/package.  If you're looking for a protein bar that's not like a candy bar, these are wonderful. All the bars above are whey-based. Have fun! Cheryl

I eat a Labrada Rockin Roll protein bar every morning.  Sometimes I can't even finish the whole thing, and will graze all morning.  It's 290 calories, 21 grams of protein.  It tastes sooo good, just like a PayDay.  I've bought so many other bars, and ended up tossing them in the garbage.  This is a great find!  You may want to go to BariatricEating.com and order the sampler protein bar pack--this is how I found Rockin Roll.  :)Christy 235/158/166/145 Highest/Lowest/Current/Goal

Power Crunch bars. They are the best - especially the French Vanilla.

Good morning everyone, I have always eaten protein bars, either for a meal (alone or with something else, depending on the size of the bar). I do try to keep the overall calories of the bar to 200 or under. I try to stay at 1100 or fewer calories per day and if a protein bar has 300+ calories, that really takes a chunck of my allottment! With that said, I love the Pure Protein bars. They are in WalMart and come in a bunch of flavors. They are very dense and filling, with 19g of protein. The Atkins bars are also good, but can be a little high in fat. The South Beach bars have a nice variety (size and flavor), but be careful of the calorie:protein ratio. Power Crunch bars are delicious, but are fairly high in calories. I usually limit myself to one a day when I do have them. I will look into the other bars that have been suggested here.
