I am 3 1/2 yrs. post-op and I have been having what I thought was horrendous gas for 2 weeks and after an endoscopy, the doctor has decided to do exploratory surgery with probable internal hernia removal.  Can anyone who's dealt with this please share what symptoms you experienced, and also after surgery how long was it before you were back to normal and back at work full time? Thanks, Mere

Mere, I had surgery  9 months to the day after my intial RNY for an internal hernia which compressed the bowels. Hurt like crazy! For several months I had symptoms off and on. The pain, which the doctor thought was either gas or an ulcer, would come and go. After numerous tests, including 2 CT scans, nothing showed up on anything, he went in and discovered the problem. What a relief that was. I was in the hospital for 2 days and returned to work the following week. My job is not very physical and I work part-time.  Best wishes Annette
