I didn't know there was a grads board until I posted on the main board, hopefully someone can help.
I will try to be brief.. My highest weight prior to wls was 366. I had rny in Dec 03, and got down to about 225 at my lowest. I was so happy to get there, that I kinda stopped trying for anymore. However I am tall and big boned and never really expected for less than 200. I maintained at about 235-240 for the last 3 years.  Recently I got married (yahoo!!) and I am now at 250.  I had a tummy tuck and thigh lift last Feb in hopes of helping a chronic back issue.  I have been battling back problems since I was 13 (which the Dr doesn't attribute to the weight) I have had 3 back surgeries and I am facing my fourth in the near future. I am not happy with my weight but I am not sure what to do. I feel like maybe I should go back to the basics, but honestly I am not sure how to do that in a healthy fashion.  I feel like I am hungry all the time, when I know I shouldn't be.  I can eat a lot at times, and then at other times, I still throw up. I am not able to exercise because of the back issues.  Please help, I am really in need of some encouragement and suggestions.

wow.. you story could have been written by meeee...  but one thing that has seriously helped.. small intervals of exrcise.. I mean.. I counta alllll 10 min here.. 5 min here.. to sets of some wall push ups..  and my food.. really wrirting it down & I recently joined sparkpeople.com   wowl.. that site makes ya feel GREAT..  I also started walkign with a friends.. she is a single mom & no support but together we are doing it..and if she can sacrifice time with stuff to get out & walk then I MAKE myself do it too..and vice versa.. its great to find that workout buddy..  jsut take it one day at at time & really focus on what you KNOW you have to do.. cuz YOU CAN DO THIS>.   I remember someone saying things about exercises specifically for people with bad backs.. I am sure you can google that or something.. and for extra support..  USE THIS BOARD>... lots of people 3-4 yrs out are seeing that bounce back.. and we gotta stick to it..  Have fun.. remember.. its for your own HEALTH..

Your story is similar to mine, also, although I haven't had plastics.  I agree with everything Helen said.  I'd like to add that I found the 5DPT to be very helpful.  Just remember, it's not a diet, you only do it for 5 days, it's purpose is to carb detox and get you back on track. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Have you gotten any physical therapy for the back issues?  If so, can't the therapist design exercises for you that won't stress your back? Good luck!   Michele

Have you been taking steroids for your back.  They make me gain and retain weight.  If there is some other help for healing your back that is not a steroid, look into this.  Ask your doctor if there are steroids in the medicine for the back he is giving you.  Steroids are the devil to me.  I took prednesone for poison ivy, and I gained 30 lbs that would not go away ever!!!  Good luck D

Congrats on your marriage, and your 100 pound loss. I can understand your question regarding going back to basics. I had the same question as you...I was taught that "basics" was 2 protein drinks and a small meal. Not healthy or realistic for me at 2.5 yrs post op. So I tweaked my basics to include 2-3 small meals and 3 protein drinks per day. Basics also included 64 oz min of water and at least 30 min of exercise. I started wih the 5dpt and that helped tremendously. Good Luck to you.

Aliya....and lovin it

Write down everything, 5 - 6 small meals a day, avoid the bad carbs. Gook Luck MaryLyn
