I have been on a "low carb diet" for a while, the past 7 weeks (due to 40 pound re-gain).  My co worker swears by weigh****chers.  She has lost a mere 15 lbs the past 4 months.  (I have lost 30).  So she was kinda influencing me to try the point system because it's more of a "lifestyle change".  So I did.... Last week I ate low calorie, small portioned food w/carbs - pasta, bread, rice; but everything was "low calorie" - low fat cheese, fat free frozen yogurt, lean cuisine meals, etc.  Ok - so the week before that, I was continuing with my low carb lifestyle.  I lost 5 lbs the week before my "point system" experiment.  Last week, the week of "low carorie, higher carb", I lost ONE pound. low carb  = 5 lbs higher carb = 1 lb I know, I know, I may get flamed for staying that ONE pound seem like it is nothing, and that it is still good.  I guess my point is that low carb works for me.  It may not work for everyone but it works for me. I also think it is easier to do!  I just thought I'd share.. I was going back and forth between what my diet should be of emphasis.  And I found my answer and am not budging! Take care!

That's interesting because I've been considering doing a weight club 'diet' and somewhat ignoring the traditional wls plan, ie re carbs.  It's good to hear from someone who has tried it, as this is what I was suspecting.  Even though I am at a stand still and have been for a while, I will stick to the low carb rather than low fat for the time being.

That's great! I am really trying to stay away from carbs. No bread or pasta especially for me for a while. I have not weighed myself but can feel, not much, but some loss. I also have more energy & my body is telling my mind it wants to exercise & move ! Just got a membership at the  Y  & am going to get the guts to make friends with that scale this weekend. Hopefully, reverse psychology will give me added willpower to stay on track & in line______face the numbers now. I too am doing low-cal/fat free jello, pudding, cottage cheese etc. and hope to see more results soon.  Even to see 1 lb !!!!!

Ditto here on the low carbs...... much better for me also than low calorie/point system.  I was hospitalized in July with elevated sugar and other problems and I was started on a low carb diet.  I want those of you who doubt that LOW CARBS works, it just might not work for everyone.   I was topping the scales at 307 in July and by the time I had my lap band surgery on December 11, 07  I  was down to 265 .    That is a total of 42 lbs.  in 5 months.  I had lost so much weight that i did not have to do the 2 wk pre op liquid diet (and am i glad about that).  I ate  my reg. low carb diet right up to the night before surgery.

I know a few people who have lost and maintained on weigh****chers and just plain counting their calories.  So the best thing is to try what works for you and keep at it until you reach your goal...........Happy living
