STAPLE LINE DISSRRUPTION
if you were done open, you can get your op report and see if you were transected or not. If you were NOT, the symptoms might include:
wt gain for no reason (no change in eating)
being able to eat suddenly OR gradually more
acid reflux
not usually pain, nausea, vomiting, any of those.

Why can't it happen if done Lap? I really have no idea. I am three years out and have been able to eat more too. I knew this would happen. The time for accountability is upon me! It was so easy in the beginning and now I find that i must actually do the work in order for the surgery to continue working for me........Alas, the complications of life.......................................

The non-transecting device is HUGE, a two handed thingy, So, if you were done lap, ONLY the smaller device will fit. If you were done open, it could be either way, depending on the doc's preference.
The surgeries I've seen were all revisions, done open, but the doc used the lap instruments for that part.
Of course you can eat more! You're sposta be able to at some point. I see most of you have programs that increase your eating immediately. Our program is 4-6 meals of 1-2 oz each UNTIL GOAL WT. We can eventually eat more, but they're in no hurry to start. So, we eat less food for the first year or so, b ut we take more vites and proteins than other programs. But, OTOH, most of us from that era got 100% wt loss.
But if you're 2 yrs out, for example, how you started out is kinda moot. Some programs plant the thought that you're trying to obtain a "normal" plate of foods, stressing that you'll some day be normal. We wont'. Our program takes us from "ridiculously small" to small normal. Different mind set.

I'm not normal. I have a fatal disease that is in remission. I live on abnormally small meal portions, avoid milk & sugar. But it works.
All the calorie counting and exercise I did for most of my life never worked. For long. It wasn't the solution. And I certainly could never eat what my thin friends ate! Not even close.
With the surgery, I have basically, abnormal portion control and I control what goes in. If I eat sugar, I gain wt. So simple. And of what I get, the majority is malabsorbed, which is a sobering thought.
When ppl insist obesity is a mental disorder, I have to remind them that I'm a distal (most radical) of the gastric bypass family and that if I was mentally ill or character flawed, I would have A.) been able to out eat the surgery with no problem by grazing OR B.) lost wt until I vanished, because this surgery is too radical to sustain life in a normal person.
