Opti-Source?!
Lena,
These were the 1st vits I took post-op--got them at my 2-wk. check-up from the nutritionist at the clinic. They did not particularly "push" them; they just had them there for convenience's sake. I really liked them; in fact, I actually sucked on them!
However, the calcium they contain is carbonate (the wrong kind) instead of citrate. So at the very least, you would need to supplement that. And they are much more expensive than a comparable multivitamin that you can get just anywhere. I take Centrum Chewables for my basic multi (which, like most multis, also contains the wrong kind of calcium, so I supplement that) and of course also add subling. B12.
If cost is no object and if you realize you need to get the calcium citrate somewhere else (as well as anything else specific to your needs), the OptiSource are a good multi!
Always,
Jo
I've been taking Optisource since I was released from the hospital over 2 years ago. My vitamin regimen is as follows:
Daily: 2 Citracal Creamy Bites (Lemon), 4 Phytomega Omega-3 capsules, 4 Optisource
Twice Monthly: 1cc injection of B12
My labs are always excellent and at my 2 year post-op, my iron was actually 4 points higher than the normal range. Something virtually unheard of in post-ops.
My only complaint about Optisource is if they're specially formulated for bariatric patients why do they use calcium carbonate instead of calcium citrate? If they did, I could cut the Creamy Bites out of my regimen.
Blessings, Jennifer
