I portion control and don't worry about the carbs or fat.   I don't eat wheat so the carbs I usually have are good ones. The problem with just cutting carbs is that you could still have too many calories and wouldn't lose weight. I'm looking forward to hearing what others say.

Amen sister!  I agree!  I have been on a high protein, low carb diet now for a while and I'm beginning to think I cannot sustain this lifestyle.  I am thinking of doing portion control.  Because I have lost around 26 lbs in a short amount of time, everyone is telling me to do a lifestyle change and not do the low carb thing.  I am beginning to agree!

Portion control for me. I did weigh****chers for many years and was very successful. Whenever I did an Atkins type diet, I never did well. I have always worked out and I need those carbs or I am lifeless and have no energy to burn. Although doing carb control helps me tremendously with my hunger but I still choose portion control. I have to do carb control.  Carbs are my trigger.  They lead to grazing, bigger portions and more calories.  If I don't keep my carbs under control, I'll gain. More important though for me is exercise.  I don't need to do a lot, but if I stop I definately gain. Michele

Okay - I go with portion control AND cutting carbs - at least to some extent.  I would say portion control is my first priority, and I still find that fairly easy with my smaller stomach, even almost 2 years out. I try to go with whole grains when I eat bread and tortillas and things, and I use high-fiber cereal in my yogurt every morning. So there's my two cents! Barb

Theoretically, portion control is built in.  It still is fo me two years out so carb control is what I look at.  I'm working at 60-80 net carbs/day composed mainly of vegs/fruits/whole grains.  The plan is to shift down to 45-60 when I want to lose a few more pounds.

I do both.  I follow core weigh****chers usually, and watch portion size.

I'm mostly portion control, although I don't eat alot of carbs and if I do they're the good ones from fruits, veggies, whole grains, whole oats, etc. I do know that if I eat the bad carbs I WILL gain weight~been there done that!
