I had surgery in August 03. I got down to about 170. Then in 06 I had severe diareah every day for about 7 months and dropped to 120 pounds. I'm 5ft 8.  The diareah stopped and over a period of 8 months I'm up to 190. I  feel miserable. My eating hasn't changed, no more than 1200 calories a day. I've gained all on my upper abdomen, so next week I'm having my thyroid and cortisol checked. I hope there is a problem or I will be even more miserable. Just don't know what to do

I am sorry you having trouble. You didn't mention if you are exercising...I know if I don't the scale will not budge. I have gained 30lbs from my lowest weight and have struggled to get it off until I started moving more. I guess it is a double-edge sword to say I hope the Dr. finds something because I would never hope for a problem for anyone but on the other hand it could help explain the problems you are going through. Best of luck to you.

There are some clinical trials currently enrolling for persons who have had gastric bypass and have either (1) not lost sufficient weight, or (2) gained back some weight over time.  I fit in the second category, and am in the process of being assessed for enrollment in a study at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (there are 10 sites current enrolling throughout the country).  Check out this website: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00394212?recr=open&intr=%22gastric+bypass%22 There are other studies going on, as well as revision surgeries if you qualify with a high enough BMI.  Go over to the "revision" message board on this site and you'll find several threads about them (StomaPhyx, Restore, eRose).  I hope you find this information helpful. Without knowing what your exercise routine or what you are eating it's hard to tell.
