Did You Move To Lose Today? It's a Miracle!
OK, I'm here again. Finally started moving my butt again after doing NOTHING since about T-giving! That was the longest lapse I've had for 3 yrs., and I just can't let that continue. (Somehow, I don't think "Christmas shopping" counts for purposeful exercise!)
Yest. I had to take advantage of the warm weather and go out for a 45 min. walk. I must admit, it felt good to be moving my sluggish body!
This morn., I headed back to the gym. I had to laugh--while I was on "hiatus," they added 2 small additional tanning rooms! I thought, Boy, it's pretty bad when I'm gone so long that they can remodel the place while I'm gone! Anyway, I only did cardio for 45 min., but I'm just easing back into this! Will add weight machines later this week.
It's 64 degrees down here in south-central IL!!
Cheers!
Jo
Always,
Jo
Hi Jo,
We are so glad you are BACK
I have one better, I was gone from my gym so long when I went back I didn't know any of the trainers and they didn't know me. It was kinda good as I was thinking it's going to be hard to answer where have you been?
We want to see you here daily
Take care,
Kathy

Kathy,
You have asked me a very good question, why am I uncomfortable about walking outside? I think perhaps it stems from my days of obesity. Not the stares of others, but my fear that I would walk somewhere and not have the energy to get back home again. Or that I would fall and injure myself, and be helpless. So, it is definitely a psychological issue, and not a rational one. There are days when I tell myself to just get over it, but then I use the excuse that it is too hot, too cold. too rainy, etc. I can give myself all sorts of good reasons not to exercise, which is why the workout dvds have been the most successful for me. I've yet to come up with a good excuse why I can't do them. Therefore, I work out. Most, if not all of my neighbors work, and my husband gets home from work so late that I don't have a walking buddy. I live out in the country far enough that I don't have sidewalks, so I think that makes a difference for me, too. If I lived in town and could walk to get a latte, I would probably make myself do it
One of these days I will get outside to walk.
Debra M.

Well I have to be honest with you, if I lived out in the country and didn't have anyone to walk with me, I wouldn't do it either. It's just not safe these days my friend and unless you had someone with you then don't.
You could try going to town and walking in a park, benches near by in case you do get tired and if you fell there would be others around. I hope one day you do try it as you will be so shocked as to what you can do.
Hey, we will have to met at an OH event and I will go walking with you
You keep doing what you are doing, as you are my inspiration

I found the answer to improve my stamina while running on the treadmill...my DH bought me an iPod for Christmas. I loaded it with Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, ACDC, Big and Rich...(you get the idea) and ran my little heart out this morning--first time I made it over three miles without stopping! Woo, hoo! I'm going to update my playlist tonight and put the songs in a preferable order. I can't wait for tomorrow morning--strange especially when I hit the Y at 5 AM!! I'm just so excited because in the last 39 years I have NEVER been able to run. BTW, I ran outdoors on Saturday and Sunday with the warm Chicago temps...so strange, but the storms are moving in tonight. Hang on to your hat!
