I'm resolved

I am a little more than 3 years post op.  I had RNY.  I lost 177 pounds, gained 9 back and was very happy there for the longest.  Then I got pregnant.  I did not gain much during my pregnancy.  My doctor wanted me to gain some more weight so I started drinking sugar drinks to add in some calories.  I gained less than 30 pounds with my pregnancy.  Once the baby came . . I lost all of the pregnancy weight.  Then I slowly started gaining it back.  I've put back on 30 pounds in the 7 months SINCE my baby was born. I have just started exercising again.  While I was pregnant, the baby herniated one of my discs in my back and I couldn't get out of bed for months.  Up until then I was so faithful with my exercise.  When I literally could not walk any longer my doctor finally agreed to a MRI.  Sure enough . . there was the herniated disc I had been suffering with for three months on TYLENOL only.  Talk about painful.  So they kept me in the hospital for a week on morphine and at 35 weeks took the baby by c-section.  Then three days later I had back surgery.   Long story short . . I had an excuse to not exercise.  HAD.  Now it's been 7 months and I am supposed to be exercising and I don't.  I just got out of the habit.  I was so fit and healthy.  I feel so unfit.  And to top all of that off . . I had to buy size 18 pants last night because all of my clothes are so tight they are cutting off my circulation.  It could be very depressing.  But I'm choosing to let it be very motivating.  I had gotten down to a size 12.  How sad to be in an 18.  I'm still 130 pounds lighter than I was.  But that's not enough. SO . . . . I am going to lose this weight.  I AM GOING TO DO IT.  Is there a weightloss competition going on?  I am out of excuses.  I'm the only one who can do it.  So . . . I'm going to do it. Happy New Year Everyone :)

Hey Cheri! It's good to see you on here.  I did the five day pouch test.  It worked the first couple of days.  Then I started with carbs again.  So . . now I have to start over.  Silly me. It's going to be a new year though.

You could try the 5dpt to get rid of the carb monster than get back to the basics. Remember the 5 guidlines for success,   Protein first exercise 20 -30 minutes a day drink water at least 64 ounces a day take your vitamins never snack between meals Now if we can all try to follow this we will be fine. I to have 15 pounds back on in the last year, so as of the 1st im really trying to not snack and no carbs, Im down 4 pounds already so just have to keep it up. Its so easy to get off track and those carbs go down so good. Good luck to you, Debra

It's the snacking that keeps getting me.  I've got to cut that out.

You asked if there's any kind of competition going on--yes, there is!  If you go to the Health forum at http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/health you can join the new "mini challenge" that Lea Burnside has organized.  There have been other mini challenges (one just ended on NYE), but this new one just started last week and runs through Valentine's Day.  (Then there will be another one until Easter, I think, and more after that.) Anyway, it's never too late to join one of the challenges, and it's all explained if you go to that forum and click on maybe the 2nd post down (something like "last call for the mini challenge").  If you contact Lea through any of the links (or PM her), she will add you to the list.  All you have to do is provide  your surgery date, highest weight, present weight, and goal weight for Valentine's Day.  I imagine it's too late to have a "buddy" but that is optional anyway.  Many choose not to have one. It's just a fun thing to try to keep motivated, and this time (I think for the 1st time) there are prizes at the end.  There's a daily post that asks a question that everyone is encouraged to answer--but these are optional also--and you can do them as often (or not) as you want.  The requirement is that you POST WEEKLY at least by midnight on Monday nights to tell your weight. You might want to check it out!  It's very friendly, not intimidating, and you can jump right in if you want! Jo

Always,
Jo
