Day 4, How's it Going for You?

Well, we've made it to day 4 (unless you're Cheri, across the pond and then you're at day 5, yeah!!). How are you finding the 5 dpt?  My goal wasn't the weightloss, as I'm scale-phobic and all my clothing fits just fine. My goal was to gain control over the carb monster and get back to planning my meals and eating on a schedule.  So far, I feel very successful! I've kept track of everything I've eaten and when I've eaten it, on here and on my profile; I've stopped craving the crackers, cookies, chips, candy that have dominated my diet over the past month, and I feel as if I've gained some self-control back.  I'm very pleased!  Have I been hungry? Sometimes I know I've had head hunger and other times, like last night, I felt really hungry and had a cheesestick at 11pm. But, writing down when and what you eat can help to differentiate the head from the real hunger.  Will I be able to keep up a "back to basics" way of eating after tomorrow? I have faith in myself.  I know I can do it. I know that wls is a tool and it's up to me to work it.  I'm psyched. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! 9:30am protein shake decaf coffee, water, went to wls support group 1pm at restaurant....few bites of greek salad, few bites of grilled chicken, some yogurt sauce to dip the chicken in, 1 c navy bean soup. I'll spend my afternoon drinking lots of dc tea, later I'm planning on having a large skinny latte, for dinner I plan on having some salmon and salad. and I will have another protein shake tonight. I'll check back later! Julie

Hi Julie: Well, it is almost midnight here and heading to bed. Today was great. I dont have any carb cravings and am really not hungry in the least. Day two was the hardest for me but I got through it!! Drinking hot decaf tea is a huge help for me. When I was needing something sweet on day 2, s/f Jello really hit the spot. I can sure tell that my pouch is "tighter"  A big thing for me to overcome is drinking with my meals. It is a bad habit that came back with I was pregnant. So, that has been a big goal for me during this. I literally have to time myself so I dont drink before 30 mins but I am doing it. Ugh! A bonus for me is that I am down 4 pounds as of this morning. Woot! Have a great evening!

It's now the morning of Day 5 for me, and I'm doing pretty well. I sure was glad to have that scrambled egg on Day 3, but even the liquid days weren't too awful - once I remembered that I could have as much of them as I needed, to not be starving. I had started off with a calorie range in mind, and found I couldn't quit made it - at least not with all liquids.  With the soft/firm protein, my calories have been closer, but I figure once I add in more veggies, etc, to help fill me up, I should be able to do a lot better with that.  I know veggies are ok, but going with the "easy on the pouch" thing, I'm sticking to mostly protein for now and will add in more of those when the 5 days are over.  And - bonus - as of this morning, I've lost 6 pounds!
