But exercising is never done
I went to the gym last night and was in my kick box jam class and a water main broke and we had to leave....man if you wanted to swim I would have went to the pool
Anyway, I went home and hopped on my treadmill, boring ....but I had to. I also did some sit ups, push ups and found my old exercise ball and going to blow it up and do some core stuff on it this weekend.
I plan to work my back, shoulders and legs this weekend.
So my friends, Did You Move To Lose and or Maintain Today? How is it going getting back on track? Having a hard time? Let us know and we can help and motivate and get ya going. If you are doing awesome then share and let us know what is working for you.
I am proud of each and everyone of you even if you don't post I know you read this and exercise is KEY to success!!!!!
See ya Monday

Hey Kathy...I posted this yesterday but I don't think you saw it.....
Thursday, 1/3/08:
I'm not working out until after work, but last night I did 15 min on the stairs, 30 min on the elliptical and 45 min on the treadmill. Tonight I will probably do 30-40 min on the elliptical and weight training on my legs....
Kathy, question for you.....when I work out, I always weigh more the next day, I never weigh less. No matter if I only do cardio or only do lifting, or a combo of each. Then on the days that I don't do anything, the next morning is when the scale goes down. What gives? Any ideas?
Water retention? I can't be gaining muscle overnight! Note: So I did cardio for an hour last night and some strength training on my legs, felt great, glad I didn't let the weather keep me away from the gym!!!!! I might rest tonight but go in again for sure on Sat morning...

GET OFF THE FREAKIN SCALE
I always weigh more after working out and the next morning. If you are taking in the water you are suppose to during a workout then you are going to show a gain. It can take up to 24 hours for the water gain to process out of your body. It's very important to drink tons of water during a workout.
If you are gaining muscle it's possible you will end up weighing more in the long run. Here is what I want you to do since I feel you are serious about this. Get a body fat comp done. The reason for this is it's a true measure of success.
You can weigh 130 pounds and have a body fat of 35%
Or you can weigh 140 pounds and have a body fat of 25%. Which one is better? Yep, the last one. You will look lean and firm and trim and the scale will say you weigh more.
I know it's hard, I have asked my DH to hide the scale sometimes for me.
If you know you are eating clean and drinking your water, getting in your protein and working out then you are doing all the right things
Oh, be sure and do your weight training before your cardio. Do just 5 mins for warming up and then weight training and cardio.
What is your goal at this time? Do you need to lose weight and or you just want to be lean and mean hehehe? If you want to add muscle and look lean then back off the cardio and increase the weight training.
If you need any further help just let me know.... You are really doing great. Keep me posted ok?
Take care,
Kathy

Yes, excercise is indeed the key to success. I never wanted to admit this before because I did not want to workout of feel guilty for not doing it. I have been doing so much better since joined a beautiful NEW gym. I love it! Lastnight I did a Nia class. It's basically dancing with elements of yoga and martial arts. I am pretty sore now. IT was really fun! Today was upper body and a really quick, fast, hard cardio session. Awesome!

I went to they YMCA and signed up for their 12 week program today and did 10 minutes on the eliptical. 10 minutes on the treadmill and ten minutes on the bike. I have been doing cardio for a few years but want to do the machines; they said I had to do the cardio for a week then they will show me the machines so I just went with what they said. I did an hour on the treadmill yesterday at a 3.0 incline and at 3.5 MPH, Wednesday I did an hour on the eliptical at level 10 and Saturday I did an hour of Zumba(fast latin type of aerobics;FUN) I am excited to start doing the machines instead of just cardio. I had a bone density test last month and it showed slight bone thinning in my hips so I thought I better get to the weights! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Kathy,
Good to find you on the boards again. Yes, I am still moving to lose.....or at least to maintain as I certainly eat a lot more these days. Yesterday, I went to the Y and swam a mile.....took a spinning class afterwards and then accompanied my husband to the gym after he got home from work and did some weights for 50 minutes or so. This morning I did my normal Saturday morning walk with my bariatric friends.......we do 3 - 5 miles of power walking on a very cold morning at the high school track......brrrrrrr. But it feels great to know that after almost 4 years, I have maintained my 175 pound weight loss........and moving is the only way to do it. Hope all is well with you.

Happy Friday.
Friday is typically an off day and since my car decided to run like crap, the little time I had to try and sneak in a walk was taken by being at the dealer.
But I did get to the chiropractor and might have an answer to my elbow pain. It may be bursitis and not tennis elbow. So I got an adjustment and a stim treatment on the elbow and it feels much better already. This has been holding me back from lifting weights and arm workouts for sure. Hopefully this means I'm on the mend with that.
Saturday is going to be an outside walk and Sunday back to the gym.
and a nice whirlpool at home after
. Need my reward and it CANT be food! Yes I still am putting the stars on my pocket calander for every day I move it to loose it.
Moving forever,
Tmac
